I am looking for a bit of advise or an opinion on a matter concerning THE CUP.
I am wondering if you collectors feel that there is any point in saving some of THE CUP product.And if so how long do you think a person will need to sit on it that it will be worth his while.I have opened a fair bit of it and it is positively beautiful.But I still have two sealed cases.I am thinking about saving it for a while.Say next spring so a person will have a really good feel for this great crop of 2005-2006 rookies.They will have a second year under their belts and a person should be better informed about where their career's will be headed.
I know it will be hard sitting on it.But with the only card I really want being a Crosby rookie,and the odds of having one so far out there that thinking I may have one has not entered my mind.Probally better off to just buy one.
If any of you have an opinion or advise PLMK.Thanks,Winston.

Winston;

Can't say for certain obviously, but I would think that it will be worth more in a months time than it is today. Further, in 6 months time it may be worth more. You could probably do quite well sitting on it for two reasons:

1. Supply v. Demand- this is likely going to be a desired product moving forward with very little of it left unopened. Everyone is trying for the big hit right now and cracking. Thus, the supply in the future will be quite low and demand should not drop significantly.

2. Rookie potential- there are a number of really good prospects who have a lot of upward potential (Vanek, Getzlaf, and a whole bunch more). If these guys have breakout seasons, people will be looking for their key rookie card and also the wax that contains it. Thus, there may be greater potential because of this.

Just my thought.

My advice - set your out price, and your time horizon. If you can get both to line up to a point you will be happy with selling it, then sell when you can get what you want and put it in your past. Also, say you want to sell these within 12 months at the most, and there is a minimum amount you will sell for then set that as your contingency plan. If you approach a year and don't see your target hi sell price, then start looking to sell at something closer to your baseline.

At the end of the day, if you set targets you can't be disappointed with making your target return even if it goes higher after, you still made a profit you are happy with.

The wax won't be going down in price, it's just a matter of how high it will go. My opinion is that it can only hold the attention of the non-hockey folks for so long so it will hit a ceiling much lower than Exquisite Hoops does. Some people see this going through the roof, but I don't buy into that.

Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts.There are a lot of rookies that have a lot of potential.There will be more than the two before the dust sits on this years rookie crop.Thanks again,Winston.

Thanks a lot for your reply.Yes I was one of those who thought that it would fall in line with the basketball Exquisite.And of course I am still hoping that.But if it does not than I feel I cannot loose on the deal.Maybe I just will not do as well as I thought.Thanks again for sharing your views,Winston.

Most products go down with time... and quickly. I mean Rookie Update and other garbage like that is almost half what it originally cost. But The Cup, along with a few brands (like SpX) seem to have staying power. I'd keep hold as the prices rise.

WOW! Is it just me.. or has the price per tin on these things soared through the roof the last couple of days??????

Few days ago they were selling for $450 CDN a tin, now the last couple have sold for $550 CDN+

I wouldnt of thought they would jump that high
