The question in the title says it all. How many vintage sets are you building? Which ones? Do you like to build multiple sets at once, or work on one at a time? Do you get the most expensive cards first, or work your way up to them, or just collect them in whatever order? Or do you not collect entire sets, but just focus on vintage cards of certain players or a certain team?

Doing 1968 Topps...down to the last 23 cards...Have the Howe and Orr, still missing the Hull, Sawchuk, Parent RC and the checklist, rest are commons, so a bit of each. Im doing the Orr master set on the side, would one day like to get them all over to PSA. Need 19 more to have his complete 66-78 Topps/OPC issues. Vintage is the way to go, not overproduced (maybe 72 Topps), great colors, great history and they hold their value.

I have about 5 vintage sets on the go right now.
Mind you I only go as far back as 1971. My goal is to complete from 1971 to 1984/85 all the sets in as best condition. I upgrade wherever possible. I end up buying the bigger guys first and get them out of the way. Then I move onto the lower end guys.

I think true vintage is prob before '71 LOL.

I am doing the 51-52 Parkhurst set (just started). I am going for Ex or better and will have them all graded. I picked up a couple today including the Barilko/McNeil action card (EX) and a common (EX-MT). Since I am being grade sensitive, I will pick them up as they come at the right price. I have a strict grade and budget regarding the cards, plus no timetable, and will stick with it. I do collect HOFers RCs with no rhyme or reason, but I am sticking to one set at a time.

am working on:
53-54 Parkhurst PSA (still need 6 + Mackell w/ bio)
54-55 Parkhurst PSA (still need 50 cards, but this is on hold currently)
63-64 Parkhrust PSA (still need 41 cards)

My Vintage Addiction..

As it stands right now I have a complete run from 1970-89. Upgrading 7 cards from 1970 and 5 cards from 1971.All checklists unmarked. And all sts are near mint or better with the except of a few cards..

Right now I'm upgrading my 54-55 Topps and Parkhurst sets with about 20 cards for the Topps and about 7 cards for the Parkhurst sets left to do.

As for my C55 set I need 1 card then it is done with all cards graded PSA 4 or better lots of 6's.Working on my C56 set with 10 PSA graded cards in hand.

Also working on a 1964 Topps Tall Boys set needing still 30 cards with 20 of them high numbered. All cards Ex+ or better.

Looking to start a 51-52 Parkie set after summer..

As for what I start first it depends on if I can find the top value cards ar a reasonable price and quality if so I pull the trigger, if not I wait until they come around ( the key is not to get to anxious as they will come around) so then I work on the rest of the cards in the set..

I look for vintage cards with no creases, decent corners..doesn't have to be perfect but if its there then maybe..I do have extra/ double cards in various conditions so if anyone needs anything send me a PM.. I have a very strong 79-80 inventory with nearmint or better on most cards..

Here are a few scans..

I just put the 1960-61 Parkhurst set to bed. Currently working on the following:

1911-12 C55 PSA 3-4 16/45
1952-53 Parkhurst Nrmt 34/105

I've been throwing around the idea of starting a 64-65 Tallboys set but I think I will make a bigger dent in the above 2 sets before doing that.
