I recently purchased a couple hundred cards, and they all have a serious tobacco odour. Any advice on how to get rid of the awful smell?

remove the cards from any protection and let them soak in the fresh air of your house. you might want to put them in a room you can close off so they whole house won't reak like them.

1)Remove them from the box they came in. Throw it out.
2)Remove them from the toploaders and sleeves they came in. Throw them out.
3)Cover a table big enough to fit all the cards with dryer sheets. Then lay a clean, non-linty table cloth on top of the dryer sheets, on the table. Do this in a dry, dark room.
4)In the middle of that table place a large bowl of vinegar.
5)Lay the cards out on the table cloth. Try to avoid piling them if you can.
6)Get a stick of unscented deodorant, and cut it into 4-6 pieces. Place each piece on a piece of tinfoil, on a small plate or saucer, on the table.
7)set a fan on a low setting, facing away from the cards.
8)Close the door to the room, and check in 48 hours later.

If the cards are worth less than wrapping paper (not hard to image these days), you could roll your own fatties for a while...

That is one hardcore solution to the problem. Any idea who came up with it or is it just some general paper/cardboard solution from Hints From Helois?

take the cards out of the box, penny sleeves, top loaders, binders (etc) and throw the 'naked cards' loosely into a new clean box. If you have certain cards of interest, I would suggest laying them out by themselves on a towel. Some people use baking soda as an odor absorbant... but be ware of scratching and white stains on jerseys and die-cutting.

Sometimes cigarette smell doesn't come out...
