I finally did it!!! 3000 Luongo!!!! (S&T)

Well this post may not have the biggest or best Luongo cards in my collection, but I finally made it to 3000 pack inserted Roberto Luongo cards. 3000 unique, non duplicate Luongo cards!

I never thought the day would come, and have had this as my goal for 2 years now. One thing some people don’t understand, except player collectors, is the time and effort that goes into this. The constant searching and dealing, the complete checklist, which I pretty much fine tuned for 25 years. The word documents, the pics, the storage and display.

The facebook, twitter, IG posts to gain followers and grow my “Brand” for a lesser word, so that cards find me instead of me finding them.

It’s actually quite an emotional day, as I have honestly spent more time and effort building and displaying this collection than any other activity/hobby in my life!. I have moved on from all other collecting (still have side projects of every goalie rc from 90 to today, early BTP and UD Mask master sets) and sold all other cards to fund this and watch it grow.

I have had my share of competition over the years, and certainly have butted heads with a few as well. But I watched as others abandoned their Luongo collections, and I was fortunate enough to be able to acquire pieces I need. I took a break around 2005-09, and that’s where most of the cards are missing.


SO....... whats next? Honestly I have no idea. But I do feel that a certain amount of strain has been lifted getting this far. I have long gave up on 100% completion, but I am still adding all Luo cards I still need.

Honestly, I can say that I am proud of this collection and the determination, time and effort that I have put into it every single day for the past 25 years. Enjoy the mailday that got me to 3000!!!!

Chris, as a one-time player collector (Gaborik), I can relate to everything you've stated. And I only lasted 18 years before abandoning the one player concept. I just got more involved, and in love, with other great cards. I still have a huge Gaborik collection but have sold off a fair amount as well.

What an amazing collection, and to hit the 3000-card milestone is nothing short of amazing. Can't say many hockey collectors reach that milestone with their collection, so it makes you part of an exclusive club.

As a player collector, I could never imagine what it's like to have to keep up a collection of this size, not to mentioned a HOF goalie like Luongo. I've been a big fan of your collection for many years now, and it's been a blast following along after so many years.
