Man has it been a frustrating 2 days for mail!

Yesterday I was woken up at 8 in the morning to pay $8 for some cards that got nailed by customs. The value marked down? $20. Same day, I open my mailbox to find 4 packages, only 2 of them for me. The other 2 were ones I had sent the previous week, except they each had one of those Canada Post labels slapped on them for insufficient postage. That really ****ed, not only because other traders have to wait longer to get their cards, but also because I got the guy at the post office to mail them for me! You'd think someone working at the post office should be able do their job properly, but instead I had to go back last night and mail them again.

Then today I open the mailbox to find one of those pieces of paper from Canada Post telling you that you have to pick up a package at the post office. So I walk down to the post office, and the guy says "Sorry we don't have that particular parcel here"

Man am I frustrated!

I had to pay $30.12 for a package the other day, it's pretty lame, I agree with that. As for the package that they left you a paper for; it means the package was still with the guy who was delivering packages. You have to go back at 4 or something when buddy comes back with everything.

o WTH. i get nabbed with fees from customs only when people send stuff registered mail, so i just tell people to not send it with that method. sending with dc is much cheaper and just as fast.

as for your other issue, i think it's time to change po's. there's plenty around here, so i'm sure you can find one that doesn't have a lazy arse..

The problem is with PayPal. If you're buying something from ebay and using PayPal most sellers these days require registered mail for expensive items. This is the only way they can protect themselves from possible chargebacks. So having to pay for registered shipping *and* then getting hit with customs charges can get expensive. The only options you have in this instance is to have the item declared at a lower value. However, I have had to provide Final Auction Value statements in the past as well and was charged duty on based on those totals.

another reason i don't use paypal or ebay =).

Happens to all of us. Yesterday, a package came in via UPS and of course it had a customs slip. I almost dropped when I saw that the gentlemen I had traded with put a value of $200 on the package resulting with customs charging me $78.85. Though I have come to a agreement with the gentlemen, and I will be getting half of the customs charge, definetly a good trader in my books.

$78 sounds a little high for customs fees on a $200 package. Their rate is typically $5 + GST on the declared value (converted to CDN funds, of course).

Man, that's rough. I guess I'm never going to use UPS!

Also today, I got 3 more of my own packages in the mail  And the thing that ****s is they were mailed a week ago! How could it take them until Friday to give these back to me? Oh well, time to go tell some more traders their cards are delayed :(
