When I came home from work last Thursday night I had a delivery ticket left by Canada Post saying that I had a package to pick up at the Post Office. To my surprise, and frustration I then scanned down and saw that they were saying I owed $162.00 in customs on the package. Now, the package in question was two cards that I'd purchased from the US for a whopping total of $23.39. I went to the Post Office on Saturday to figure out what was going on only to find out that the package had not been dropped off there yet.

Well the package was delivered today there was documentation of an e-mail chain between my letter carrier and his boss about the order. It turns out he took a closer look at it when he saw that there was $162.00 worth of customs on it, and brought it to his bosses attention who, after 5 days told my letter carrier to release the package as he could not find any reason for customs duties to have been applied to the package.

Most of us have had bad experiences with our various postal services. Just wanted to share a positive one.

Cheers.

The carriers in the area that are the regulars are brilliant. I find it goes downhill when those guys are on vacation and the temp carrier steps in. Regardless, they're all very hard working people.

Great story. Maybe a Tims card is in order.

My friend is a mail man, so I'm planning on finding out who the boss is at his depot, and sending an e-mail of appreciation, and there is definitely going to be a Tim's card in his near future.
