i have an idea to get this moving along

how bout every 2-3 days (enough time for people to make trades) we do a full round in the chat??? that way we get this moving along and keep people interested. i feel the reason guys lost interest in the past was the draged out draft process. we make a schedualed time every 2-3 days like 8 or 9 PM and bang out a round at a time. what ya say??? cause if we keep going at this pace we wont be done with the draft for a month
 
Its a good idea Newman. But, I just don't think it will work. There's no way you will be able to get 29 people to come online at the same time.
 
Yeah some people have to work third shift. Or they will forget. All people have to do is look when they first log on to H.I. and check to see if their turn is coming. Pick a hand full of guys and PM them to dherm. If one of their guys gets pick by someone else then he will pick the second guy on your list. Could be fast and easy if people would liik and see when their turn is coming. This is my opion.--jch
 
However, the pace we're going at now is getting ridiculous. We need some of the participants to step up!
 
You should do what we did for the first mock season, get everyone to lodge their picks for the round via PM within a 3 day period. If you're pick number 20, you make a list of 20 guys in order of preference, and then whoever is the highest left on your list when your pick comes around gets picked for you. Clemens9 organised it in the first season, so you should talk to him, it worked very well.
 
i like it alot better when its a live draft and u see exactly who is gettign picked up unitl ur pick and then u get to pick
u have a better shot at steals and what not and it makes the draft alot more fun. those same people who work or forget can PM a list to Dherm just the same way or if they dont, dherm can pick for them. it would work basically the same as bargey is saying i just it it owuld be for fun for those who wqould enjoy a live fast paced draft to have one, thats just my opinion

It did work very well and I would reccommend doing it this way.
 
i dunno i just think its more fun in alive draft but that is my opinion, its harder for me to rank 20 guys then it is to pick someone i want out of a list
 
Why not combine both ideas? Why not say tonight we'll make picks 1-10 in a live draft. -IF- you can't make the live draft then you PM dherm with your top 10 picks. Then the next night 10-20 (I think it should be more then 10 a night but this is just an example).

This works because instead of having to pick your top 20 guys and PM them to dherm at most you'd only have to pick 10. What do you guys think?


Edit: Even better, why not say picks 1-10 will be live in the chat at one given time in the day then wait like 5-6 hours later until the 11-20 picks are made. 5-6 hours should give most people enough time to come on the boards and see who's avalible etc.
 
The live draft is a great idea but could never happen. The other thing is there is no real point in combining them if your going to just PM a list because dherm can more easily and quickly make the picks just using the PM system.

We should at least test the live draft idea, just pick a day this week and do it and see what happens... Also there has not been a pick in like 2 days! These slow members should be replaced with more active members...
 
A lot of good ideas, but we need to start putting the best idea into action. The first round is lasting longer than the NBA season itself.

I like WVUCollector's idea as well.
 
I wish he has, people have pmed there picks to him, so if he got on it would go faster
 
JJonesFan- there is a point to combine the ideas. Say you pick 26th. Would you really want to make a list of 26 players? Or would you rather have 1-15 pick. Then you have to make a list of only 11. Plus if you have 1-15 at one point during the day, then 16 and on at night, you cover 1 round in 1 day.
 
Actually we could do a live draft but everyone would need the same instant messenger so that is not possible. It could if everyone had a way to get on one instant messenger and someone start a chat about the mock season draft and a time was set up for everyone to try and be on. Just my two cents of what I think should be done to make it go faster.

Your right, my point is that if people pm'd there picks or were active this wouldn't be a problem in the first place. If you want people who aren't active fast enough to lose their picks that's fine, but getting people who are already inactive to join a chat every day at a particular time, or pm their picks won't be fruitful. I am not against trying it, because I have no problem pming my picks right now.
