I don't collect comics any more, but when I go into shops and I look at the high dollar comics on the walls, I cringe. I started collecting/reading comics in 1979 at the age of four and went right through to 1989 (I even bought older issues from flea markets as a kid).
I once read where thinking about saving these comics (and cards) from back in the day was like saving grocery bags. It didn't make a lot of sense. When I was a kid, I kept all of my comics in stacks under my bed and when I hit a certain age, I became "too old" for them and my mom tossed them out. Same with my hockey cards. Still, it doesn't help the sting any when you see a $1,000 price tag on the Incredible Hulk #181 when I bought that same comic for $3 back in '80.
