I think this patch is fake!

I saw this up on the bay forever and have been looking at for awhile. Figuring he wore the jersey hes pictured in in the photo shoot, I dont get how this card has a emblem swatch from the old school jersey? Doesn't make any sense to me. Anyone Vanek fan or anyone that has seen multiple Vanek's #/199 would agree.

It's legit for 2 reasons...

1) Just because he is wearing one jersey in the picture, doesn't mean the swatch has to be from the pictured jersey. UD does this all the time. It's also not the only Vanek I have seen with the old school jersey.

2) No one fakes a patch with a weak sauce swatch like that one.

I've been collecting Vanek for along time,I've never seen another one with the Blue. I meant that the jersey he wore in the photo shoot is the one on the card just to compare. I didn't mean that the photo means he was wearing that card. Plenty of people would fake a patch like that. How many fake Cup patches have come up on here with nameplate swatches/jersey number? a bunch

Didn't the Hot Prospects patches that year use some different jerseys? I've seen some Kostitsyn patches and some Getzlaf patches that had stars on the patch and different colours than what's on the jersey

Getzlaf Ultimate and Hot Prospect patch cards from 05/06 used the "star" patches you refer to.

It's legit for 2 reasons...

I've seen a number of 05-06 Vanek patches from the old jersey, as well as Thorburn. I'd say it's legit.
