Ok here's the situation. For 3 weeks I have been listing my Dryden custom McFarlane for 150.00 or BO, free shipping (8 people watched the auction). Zero serious offers. So I said to myself, I guess my work on this figure is average. So I list it last Weds at .75 auction style, 12.00 shipping in Ca, and 15 in USA. I get over 30 people watching it, and it sells at 87.33 tonight.

Sometimes I wonder if auction is best to attract more bidders. Anyway, kinda head scratcher, kinda a rant.

Odd.

Fixed Price or Store listing?

Auctions create demand, I guess. People never know how hot an item is until they can start throwing their money at it?

I found that start bidding at .25 and put a reserve on it (that generates more) I used to put in the least amount of $$$$ I'd accept then i'd usally have to sell everything for .01 more than that price. The auction style seems to attract more hits. also even if they place any bid it will show up in their myebay i know i always look at what the things i was bidding on are going for and always end up bumping my highest bid up for something i really want.

There is some strange psychology at work with auctions. While not exactly the same as your scenario, I was thinking the other day and realized I'm more likely to pass on, say, a $49.99 opening bid of a given card. However, if that same card is at $15 or $20, I'm more likely to bid for $50 or more.

Anyway, I'd definitely say straight up auction style is hands down the best way to attract more attention. You can always do what a lot of other sellers do, and have your auction descriptions also contain a link to your store (if you have one) or your other items. Once people see your other things they may be more inclined to buy from you, especially if you offer free or discounted shipping on subsequent items.

Odd.

When it comes to making offers, people seem to be scared of rejection. So, they are never serious when making offers.
