I know times are tough and all, but there seems to be nothing but sale threads in the buy/sell section. It's damn near impossible to get a sale going on here unless you're practically giving your stuff away.

Is no one buying?

I'm buying , but only certain things, and only from my wantlist.

I also have a sale thread going right now, but if nothing sells then I am fine holding on to what I have. Just putting it out there in case someone else needs what I have to offer.

i think you'll start seeing activity again when the higher end stuff starts getting released. it's just easier to trade for lower end items.

Im trying to buy....buy the plethora of "make me an offer" sales threads and people not bothering to post an actual price for their cards is making it difficult. So many people starting sales threads...then not posting a price....so you pm them and get the "make me an offer" runaround.
If everyone who posted a sales thread actually posted prices it would make it alot easier to buy on here. Frankly, I just give up eventually.

I just put my Puck Signing set up for sale individually, and with so many good players available I'm still having a slow start to selling them off. The prices to me seem fair, and yes they are posted for each card ;)

I think what you are seeing is that people are mainly only buying cards for their PC and not buying bait, even when good prices are posted.

There also seems to be a bit of a slow period leading up to the big shows, so it's possible people are saving up for the Expo (I know I am trying to).

Buying is easy. Finding sellers with cards I need is tough. Correction, finding sellers with cards that don't expect an arm and a leg for cards I need are tough. $45 for a SOTT auto? $2500 for an Artifacts Gold 1/1 RC? $100 for a SPGU Triple jersey /25? Since when did Richie start outselling Ovy and Sid?

If it's reasonable, I'm ready to buy. If it's not...choke on it.

AMEN my brotha

Aside from a bit of pre-05/06 wax, I too have only been picking up a handful of PC players rather than tradebait lately. Not to say that sale values cannot continue to decline even further, but it's pretty tough to pass on some PC singles right now that would have otherwise cost me about 50% more this time last year (especially Zetterberg).

I would agree with what most have said. My old fashioned "shotgun" style collecting has long gone im now very specific in what I buy. Since UD lost Kipper and Phaneuf is doing less and less Im at a point where I ask myself just how many Iggy autos do I need? As for buying on here I have paypal ready and waiting but most of the cards I now need are # to 10 or less and just bever seem to pop up (If anyone has Meyer BAP platinum hit me up to make a fast sale!). Flames rookies have been virtually non existant the last two years so nobody major to chase. I have exhausted the Meyer and Brine cards on here (the only Brine I need is #/5) and hollweg was burned lomg ago

It's a funny market. The $$$ spent has not really changed, just how it is being spent is what we are seeing. Last year it was wax boxes and very few cards out of the show case (at 1/2 BV). This year, box sales have decreased but we have more "by the pack" sales (which is actually better for us) and more stuff out of the show-case.

Our sales here on HI are about the same although when we share what a card sells for on eBay, some buyers like to refer back to Beckett if it is lists for less ... LOL Everyone wants a bargain - who can blame them.

Vintage remains strong - even up a bit.

Most people who enjoy this hobby will do so regardless of how much they can purchase - they still recognize the fun in it.

As for us buying - we are in auto country so we receive 3 or 4 calls a week. I have limited my buying to vintage (Parkies, Topps plus pre-88 OPC) and high-end Mario, Gretzky, Yzerman and Habs stuff. If a bargain walks in the door - I buy it.

Don´t know if it is just the economy...but it has been tough for me personally doing any sales/buying here lately when members have not been willing to pay 35-40% dlvd. for high-end cards on their wantlist and at the same when I put out my high-end wantlist I get offers mostly at 60-75% of book...at best...that equation doesn´t work too well for me...

I'll buy if people put up Kostitsyn cards I need. I'm just lucky enough orunlucky enough to not have that many cards to chase down... although these new 07-07 artifact Rc parallels are annoyinng

The way UD drops products every 2 weeks for 9 months straight, it's pretty easy to find a good deal 2-3 weeks after that product is released because everyone is after the new stuff.
