Is there a way of finding out whats in 5 ' 7 Zenith cards with opening it?

Alright, this may look like a dumb question, but I have bought quite a few unopened 97/98 5'7 Zenith cards off of ebay and have never pulled even a star player out of them.

I have bought a few off of this guy and gotten nothing. If he pulled a Weight, why wouldnt he open it? its only worth around $1, and y would he put a BIN of $1? I bought a few Weights off of him now, aswell as a Damphousse and a Robitaille to open and have always pulled commen players.

I'm not complaining about what i pulled since its like buying packs..... but I'm just curious if there is a way to tell.

I have heard a lot of people say that they pulled inserts out of 5x7 insert cards, but I haven't had that same experience. I have opened everything from common 5x7s to common gold impulses and have actually always pulled better cards out of the regular 5x7s.

You should remember that there are far more base cards produced than anything, so unless you have opened around 15-25 of the 5x7s without pulling any inserts, its probably just normal.

It is also possible that a seller opened numerous boxes and basically opened 5x7s until he hit the inserts and then just left the rest unopened to sell that way.

The player/type of 5x7 doesn't tell you what's inside. A 5x7 Gold Lecavalier could have an Alyn McCauley base card inside.

Anyone who tells you they've found a secret and the good players is just relying on 1 or 2 instances.

i had a 5x7 ZTeam of LeClair. and it booked 12 or something
i kept it in my room for 7 years. 5months ago i decided to cut it open. i pulled a GOld ZTeam of Elias. rc i think it was? bv60$
go for the big cards!

YES, you can tell what smaller cards are in the 5X7s.

The inserts/rcs tend to be in the middle 5x7 of the pack. He probably is grabbing those and eBaying the rest.

This guy is a member over on Beckett. His signature used to read something along the lines of "97/98 Zenith Collector, one of the most unique sets ever!" or something...

Anyway, from what I recall, fullbag (also from Beckett) bought an entire uncut set from bronxxx, and was very unhappy with the results. He bought it planning to cut open all of the cards, but when he got about 15 cards in he found a card with a label on it... naming the player that was inside. He called bronxxx out on it and I don't remember the story from there. I think bronxxx may have made the deal right or something, but I wouldn't be so quick to call him out as shady.

Anyway, there may or may not be some way you can tell which card is inside... but if you are unsure, just go buy an unopened box!

Wow, thats brutal! , i bought a few from him (maybe 5 or 10), and never even got a semi-star out of any of them. When I got a bunch from him he sent me the cards about 2 months after, so he was already on my bad list.... i dont know who he is, so im not going to centre him out and label him, but thanks for the info and story! I probably wont buy unopened ones anymore.
