I was interested in a autoed card only thing the other person was interested was Ovy base,This is the message i got back...

$50 in base and inserts for the $20 auto from the post. Trading gu/autos at a 1:2.5x odds

Is this a new trend i declined but seems odd to me...
 
This has been going on for awhile. I had the same kind of deal on another site for a Duchene YG that wasn't aware of the hockey hobby market. She was interested in my Crosby and Malkin Base and I offered over 100 BV for the YG, but after explaining over and over again that base cards aren't worth diddly squat, she stopped communicating with me. I guess being too honest isn't a good thing..
 
What ever happened to fair trades minus the dollar value?
If the guy wants 20 of my cards for 1 I want of his, what's the big deal?
If I'm looking to get rid of those 20 cards, yes I would take the deal.
 
Well he wanted all Ovechkins base and the auto was a BTP nobody.....Just didn't feel right All i can say if i was on the other side i wouldn't ask for 2x value guess i am a old schooler.....As far as mentioned above 37 bucks worth of Roy Price we do it lol

I have done this exact deal a couple times before,turns out the other end
needs the reg issue cards for plaques he puts together.

I have no problem with that deal. I would love to trade away unwanted cards for game used and autos, even at 3X
 
I clearly have the ratio in the post. And I am the guy that this post is about. I make trades like this on three different sites with the rules in the first part of the post for all to read.

I am trading these jerseys and autos below for the following base and inserts of these players in return. I am trading them at a ratio of 1:2.5x, so $10 auto/gu for $25 in base/inserts.

Pretty simple with no hidden message.

Well this post wasn't to cut you up, just wanted to know if that is the way things are being done i have always traded bv for bv not expecting more if it is base are inserts if i offer something extra that is different or throw something in I didn't expect that you would want it.As far as you posted you wanted $50 bv for a $20 card just didn't seem right in my eyes....I didn't post your name but glad that your tring to make me look bad Thanks Dale

How did he make you look bad? He simply responded by explaining his reasoning. If you don't agree then don't trade with him. Why do people take things so personally when it comes to trading HOCKEY CARDS?
 
I've done it myself as I have a very large collection of players, teams based on inserts and commons. I think I will use MasterP's standard as it seems really fair.
 
I have a HUGE wantlist of base cards and low-end inserts. I have found that the only way to get people to dig through their commons for you is to offer them an incentive. In the past I have gladly offered people 1.5x BV for their commons even when trading away autos and game-used. I will extend that offer here as well, if someone has $20 worth of Habs commons that I need I will trade a $30 auto card for them. I have no problem trading down to get cards I need.
 
It's all about what you feel is fair. I would gladly trade a $100 BV auto that isn't a PC item for $100 in base, inserts, etc if I need them to complete a set. However, I'd also gladly send 2x BV in inserts and base for an auto I need for my PC. It's all relative
