Is this Gretzky RC a Fake??!

Not sure if this card has been talked about anywhere previously but I came across it on eBay and something seemed a bit off.

The seller is local to me so it naturally caught my eye. I also saw it on my local FB marketplace and was going to inquire about the card.


Upon closer inspection, the PSA label didn't seem quite right to me. Here is a link to the card.

Here is what I believe to be the correct label and authentic card. Found once I ran a cert verification on the PSA website.

If you look closely the labels are a bit different but posses the same cert #. (Look at the gaps in the P's on TOPPS)

My question is, Do we think that the card in the current eBay listing is fake? Just the slab fake? Is it legit and the other one is fake? Reslabbed?


Could the PSA slab just be fake and the actual card authentic? I am not an expert on the Topps version of this card so perhaps somebody else with more knowledge could help..

That Gretzky looks so crispy minty on the corners, etc - I would be in utter shock it got an 8, unless it had some other sort of damage/surface issues/OC... something to drop it 2 grades. None of it looks right, is my own opinion. Seems like the entire thing, card/label is fake. Again, my opinion.

Could it be possibly reslabbed? Can you ask PSA?
