There is only one month to go before the release of 1972 - The Year in Hockey. The cards look like and feel like hockey cards of the 70's. Trade them, collect them and even put one in the spokes of your bicycle!

The release of 1972 - The Year in Hockey culminates an eight-month process wherein collectors voted for the most important year in the history of hockey and ITG committed to make a product for that year.

The voting was very close with thousands of unique votes cast and 1972 slightly edged out 1980 as the most important year.

The die was cast and ITG set out to make the product. Hundreds of players from around the world had to be contacted to secure their rights to participate in the product. Design work and securing the images was painstaking. We could not simply go to a single image bank and get all of our photos.

But now only a month away from the release of this milestone product, the excitement is at a fever pitch.

Direct dealer and distributors orders are due soon and ITG anticipates a sell-out of this limited product based on the dealers and distributors who have ordered early.

Congratulations to you the collectors for making this product possible. Click here for product information.

The Most Significant Number in Hockey #9

UM9-1.jpg

Richard wore it, Howe wore it and Gretzky wore it twice. The most significant number in hockey is the number nine.

In November of 2009 Ultimate Memorabilia 9th Edition will be released. A product the revolutionized high end hockey card collecting with its Inaugural Edition in 2000.

More information to follow over the next few weeks but remember, there can only be one ultimate .... Ultimate Memorabilia by IN THE GAME.

Wow!!! Rick Martin game used, pretty sure that's the first one I know of from my fav player growing up!!! Also first Rene Robert auto since 04/05 I think, Schoenfeld auto in here, looks great for old school Sabres fans!

Sorry for the poor image of the Yakushev autograph card. The real card looks really good, don't know what went wrong with our Newsletter.

It might have been because that one was a gif file while all the others were jpg. Anyway, here's a better look at it...

By the way, Dr. Price, did you ever get the PM I sent you a couple months back with the question about 2001-02 Parkhurst?

That Sammy Davis JR. cut may be the coolest celeb card I have ever seen out of a hockey product. The Al Pacinno would be awesome too.

P.S. I was born in 1985 and I can still appreciate that.

I think Dr. Price said it should be in line with BTP pricing, but I could be wrong. Really looking forward to picking up a few boxes.

Any idea of price point per box for 1972?

I imagine that they're going to run about USD$10-15 higher than what people might have paid for BTP out of the gate due to anticipation.

I still have some left for preorder, but....wow. I might just hold them. It looks amazing.

If I can get my hands on it, I will bust a box or 2. However, I will be looking for all of the Russian autos, so if anyone pulls any and wants to move them, please let me know.

Thanks!

This product is really nice looking and the theme is irresistible, even to someone like myself who has yet to purchase an ITG product.

One question: The game-used checklist lists Bobby Orr . Will ITG be able to use his image on the card or will they be forced to issue a swatch card with no image (a la Gretzky swatches from last year's Superlative)?
