Hi guys

Some of you have commented on how little I post on here now - I'm lurking every day, but some of the show & tells I see blow my collections out of the water ........ nobody wants to see my $0.10 player collection additions

Well this is probably my best show & tell for a little while

Kevin Oblocki was able to hook me up with a fellow collector who had these available - I had funds ( which is very rare ) and we did a deal quickly and easily

I never expected to own any cards from The Cup - but I know have the RC, Gold & Platinum + some plates.

The Letterman takes me so close to the whole name - just need a V and I'm done !!

If anyone is able to confirm the existence of the Rookie Lettermen Gold or the Rookie Update Auto I would be very grateful - I have searched Ebay every day for 3 years and never seen a single one. I have seen the Lettermen Blue ( but couldn't afford it ) but never a Gold.

Ah Mal...it's been so long. Good to see you're still around and adding to Millie's PC. I don't think it's going to matter for much and I'm not sure if it even affects your search terms, but the UD Black letters you're searching for (the gold ones) spell "ROOKIE" as opposed to Valabik's last name.

Outside of that, try the hockeydb.com boards for the minor league issues...they have some pretty crazy collectors with some pretty random and obscure things there.

Thanks for the heads up - I did know that, but as my edit says .... I am just an idiot :-)

Because there aren't many items on Ebay I just search for Valabik - then just scroll through everything looking for new things.

Also dragged in recently an MVP Super Script and the 10/11 UD Signatures .... but forgot to bring the scans on my memory stick

Glad to see you runnin' around here Mal! Nice additions also. For what it's worth, i'll look at your mailpost rather than the same ol' of Crosby, Ovechkin, Gretzky or whoever. Sure they're nifty, but they tend to lack personality and dedication.

Anyways, thanks for sharing.

All is good - just my collecting is slow :-)

I now try to maintain 21 player collections across 7 different sports ... I've lost my focus a little. I found that I would go twelve months or so without finding a Potvin I needed, so I started another collection and picked up 100 common cards of that player for $5 ........

Thanks for the comments, pleased to be able to share / own such nice cards

Thanks for the positive words - strangely I always look at your mailposts also, even though I don't know who most of the players you collect are :-)

I only joined the hockey world in the mid nineties so the history is something I am slowly learning

I do find some maildays staggering and off putting - when people are dropping shields, cut autos etc etc I feel intimidated to show off my Valabik collection which vary rarely has anything other than a shiny parallel.

Dedication is probably the one word that best sums up my collecting - I've never had more than $20 at a time to spend, but will do whatever I can to advance my collections. My Valabik collection is a labour of love because of the connection with my daughter's birth - I have several of his 1/1's that simply will never leave our collection.

I'd love to see him join up with the Bruins - I think Valabik & Chara could lay down some beatings together .......... plus it would give me more cards to chase ( I wouldn't mind adding a nice Bruins bear head patch )

Was happy when I saw he'd been traded, I think he had become stagnant with the Trashers organisation - hopefully moving to Providence will give him another shot at the NHL

Thanks - it is a nice patch and sits nicely alongside the Auto RC patch that I picked up when the first came out .... I'm sure there are nicer available, but I'm happy with it even though half of it is blue jersey material rather than patch ........... any patch detectives want to have a guess ?

My first thought was that it looked like the bottom of the Reebok logo ...... but I am more often than not wrong :-)

The Super Script has been a pain but shows that patience works out - lost two or three for $10 or more in 08/09, won this one for around $1

Shame about Schalke 04 today, didn't really expect them to win especially with Hoewedes out. Hopefully we win tomorrow! HALA MADRID!!!!!!!
