Count me in on this as well! I love this concept because it's new, fresh...and it's not like
we haven't seen it before. While some may be saying that they'd only collect it if it were depicted with Howe, Orr, Gretzky, et al...I would have no problem collecting hockey "bags" of other players. None whatsoever. If they want to make a hockey bag auto of Zach Parise, Jonathan Toews or even Calvin de Haan...I'd be down with that. Why? It's a fresh idea, and player collectors would eat it up. If they made a bag auto of Modano, Jack Johnson, Parise, Nichushkin...you can best believe that I would line up to snag one.
UD has done this with Woods, and now Gretzky. I say bravo. It's not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it works. Also look at it this way...Ultimate is a $125ish pack. That Gretzky bag is already over $200 (as of this post) The owner is seeing positive return on his break. What's not to like?
Panini is using skates, skate blades, laces, hat pieces, hat seams and everything else under the sun to make 'memorabilia pieces.' They're like the Native Americans when they killed buffalo back on the prairie...nothing was ever wasted.
UD is using hockey bags. AWESOME!
Any of the aforementioned pieces/ideas beats a MANUFACTURED swatch of ANYTHING
any day of the week and twice on Sunday!
