Was a very busy December on the buying front... little bit of pricing FOMO but also nearing the "end" of completing my BGS 9.5 90's rookie card want list so I may have overpaid (at the time) for a couple cards.
And its been interesting since about X-mas where prices have shot out of control. I felt like I was in a rhythm of 3 or 4 purchases a week, all of which I'd classify as deals. Well since Christmas there are hardly any deals out there and prices have really taken off. My snipes were out-snipped 4, 5, 6 times a week and by significant margins. And I lost out on a couple super rare graded 90's cards that probably wont show up again anytime soon. Oh well. My BGS 9.5 collection is going to be a BGS 9-9.5 collection for now haha.
Still tracking down the odd deal and will revisit the want list moving forward. I might even dabble in some 90's insert sets, which I've never collected in my life.
Anyways onto the mail.....
Grabbed another pair of Jagr OPC Premier BGS 9.5 before prices took off again. I love this card so much I dont mind holding onto a few.
Grabbed a couple 'newer' Young Guns. Not sure how much I want to dabble in the newer stuff but there still are odd card on ebay that slips buy with low bids.
Already parted ways with the Price, with how prices are moving its not a card I felt like holding onto. Plus it can fund more stuff I really want to PC.
This one is straight into the PC. Would love to find one already slabbed as a BGS 9.5 (pretty much impossible) so I'll cross this at some point.
Sakic prices have also taken off so I grabbed a decent graded Topps copy. There is matching OPC on its way somewhere in Canada Posts system as well.
Adding to the 90-91 Upper Deck BGS 9.5 collection...
The early 90's monster card. Score Canadian Eric Lindros. I have a American version at Becket right now getting graded so that'll pair up nicely with this Cdn version.
Another vintage Gretzky. Loving this Topps set in unscratched form. Will be looking to upgrade to a higher grade example at some point. But this one is super clean.
One of the more rare 90's rookie cards in BGS 9.5 form. The pop report is stupid low so as soon as this popped up I snatched it up. I already had a PSA 10 of this card which I already sold for double what this BGS copy cost me. The PSA 10 premium is nuts right now.
And a couple low grade 'vintage' rookies that I've never owned before. Raymond Bourque and Mike Bossy. The Bourque has poor corners and the Bossy has a couple minor creases (and classic Bossy centering) but cool cards nonetheless.
And then this just showed up last night... Obviously Gretzky prices are crazy right now, there are zero OPC deals out there but the Topps version has dipped a bit the last couple weeks. And as I've been piecing together OPC/Topps pairs of all the big 80's rookie cards I figured I better grab a #99 before its too late. Enter this BVG 6 copy that is pretty darn clean. Has a touched top corner (obviously) and not perfect centering but I love it.
And until I grabbed these 80's rookie the last several months I never realized the paper texture or colour difference between OPC and Topps. First thing I checked once it arrived... compared to my OPC copy. The Topps is definitely brighter.
Anyways that's it for now. Cheers!
