Jets agree to terms on 6-year deal with Hellebuyck

The Winnipeg Jets have agreed to terms with goaltender Connor Hellebuyck on a six-year deal worth $37 million. The contract carries an average annual value of $6.167 million.

Hellebuyck had a breakout season in 2017-18, appearing in 67 games and setting single-season franchise records for wins (44), shutouts (6), and save percentage (.924). The 25-year-old was a finalist for last season’s Vezina Trophy.

Not a bad signing by today’s standards, but only if he keeps up the level of play shown last year. It’s amazing to me that the 6 highest paid goalies in the NHL have never won a Cup, only 2 of the 10 highest paid goalies have won a Cup and they are 7th & 8th in goalie pay.
