First off, my good friend Ryan --- let me retract that... One of my best friends Ryan (aka Triple B,,, Big Brother Buff) will be quick to say "what's Beckett?" but to let the cat out of the bag - he was one of the first guys on facebook to congratulate Stephen on becoming the editor of Beckett Hockey.

That being said, it is no secret that most of us are friends with the past editors (for me it was Al, Susan and of course the new editor Stephen!!!) and most of us on here started out on Beckett or were referred here from friends on Beckett.....

But for whatever reason, we were looking at older Becketts and in the July 06 issue, they had an article called "Playoff Heroes & Zeros - and the impact on immediate and future hobby fortunes"....

Here's the Winners & Losers....

Winners

Eric Staal
Shawn Horcoff .... not so much
Cam Ward
Ilya Bryzgalov .... not so much
Ryan Miller
Jason Pomminville
Steve Bernier .... OUCH!
Derek Roy .... not so much
Dustin Penner
Fernando Pisani .... Bet you wish you loaded up on his RC!
Cristobal Huet .... OUCH!

Losers

Daniel Alfredsson
Joe Thornton
Pavel Datsyuk
Henrik Lundqvist
Ray Emery
Henrik Lundqvist
Marty Turco

If winning the Stanley Cup is the objective, I think the list is written in reverse!!!

No author is identified in the article .... so Mr. Muir - "swing and a miss" my friend.

Old Becketts are just awesome to read sometimes. It's not just the pricing that misses the mark!!!!

My favourite ones to go back an read are the end of year RC list with player projections. The two I always remember Patrick Sharp & Tim Thomas being marked as "cup of coffee"

Hahaha! I remember losing my **** laughing when they put Joey Tenute in the rolodex one year and all the description was was "Not a legitimate NHL prospect" and nothing else

That might have been the best laugh I ever got out of the magazine.
