Wow, you know the basketball section is dead when the biggest and most exciting FA day in the history of the league happens and there isn't 1 single post about it.

Anyone else excited about this? I can't wait to see where everyone signs.

The one thing I don't understand is why the NBA opens up free agency on July 1. No signings are official until July 8 because that's when their Cap resets, so why not open free agency on July 8?

While this is likely the second biggest NBA free agency period ever it has seemed to me that not a lot of action is actually going to take a few days.

For those interested though Rudy *** re-signed with Memphis 5yrs. 82M. . .sorry will re-sign on July 8.

The Nets and Knicks had people come into Cleveland on Thursday to talk to LeBron James in hopes of being able to get him to go to New Jersey or New York...

Phoenix Suns reached agreement with forward Hakim Warrick on a four-year, $18 million contract , league sources said

I think it would be cool to have Chris Bosh, Lebron James and Dwayne Wade on the same time but they are younger and will probably argue a lot, hogging the ball.

They can't match the Big 3 of Garnett, Pierce and Ray Allen aka Jesus Shuttlesworth

I'm glad The Truth is staying in Boston!

Bucks cleaned out there payroll signing Salmons for 40 mil and Drew Gooden. Not sure why they are so high on Gooden, hes garbage. Need to get rid of Redd

Magic reach deal with former Knicks PG Chris Duhon

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—The Orlando Magic tried to sign Chris Duhon in free agency two years ago only to watch him go to New York.

They finally got their man Tuesday.

Duhon reached an agreement with the Magic for a $15 million, four-year deal, his agent said. Teams can’t officially sign free agents until Thursday.

Agent Kevin Bradbury told The Associated Press that the chance to play for a championship contender was enough to sway Duhon to the Magic this time. Duhon fills a much-needed role behind starter Jameer Nelson and could step into the starting spot should an injury occur.

Mavericks agree on deal with Haywood

The Dallas Mavericks have reached agreement on a six-year, $55 million contract to re-sign center Brendan Haywood, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.

Haywood came to Dallas in the middle of last season in a trade that also delivered Caron Butler and DeShawn Stevenson to the Mavericks. Haywood averaged 8.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.0 blocks during 28 games for the Mavericks.

AP source: Boozer agrees to deal with Bulls

CHICAGO (AP)—Carlos Boozer is headed to the Chicago Bulls. Now what about you, LeBron James?

A person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press that Boozer, a two-time All-Star forward, agreed to a deal on Wednesday and is leaving the Utah Jazz after six seasons. The person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the contract can’t become official until 12:01 a.m. Thursday, did not reveal the terms.

Several outlets have reported it’s a five-year deal, and the Chicago Tribune cited a source saying the Bulls would still have enough room to offer a maximum salary contract to another free agent. The NBA set the salary cap at $58.04 million for next season on Wednesday.

Celtics re-sign Ray Allen for 2 years, $20 million

BOSTON (AP)—Ray Allen has agreed to a two-year, $20 million contract to return to the Boston, keeping intact the Celtics’ new Big Three so they can try for a second NBA title.

With Kevin Garnett under contract, Paul Pierce on the verge of a new four-year deal and coach Doc Rivers also agreeing to return, the Celtics can keep together the core of the 2008 NBA champions for at least two more years.

Allen’s agent, Lon Babby, said the second year was a player option. NBA teams are not allowed to sign free agents until Thursday.

Allen, who turns 35 this month, averaged 16.3 points last season as the Celtics reached the NBA finals for the second time in three years. After Boston lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games, Allen said, “It’s obvious I don’t want to be anywhere else.”

Nets reach 5-year deal with Travis Outlaw

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)—The New Jersey Nets have reached an agreement in principle with free agent forward Travis Outlaw on Thursday.

A person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press that Outlaw got a five-year deal worth $35 million. The person requested anonymity because financial terms of the deal were not being disclosed.

Outlaw played 34 games with the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers last season. He averaged 9.9 points and 3.5 rebounds with the Trail Blazers and 8.7 points and 3.6 rebounds with the Clippers.

Durant reaches 5-year deal with Thunder

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP)—Kevin Durant didn’t go for a spectacle in announcing where he’ll be for the next five years.

Instead, Durant simply posted an update on his Twitter page Wednesday, saying he’d agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant can’t sign the deal until Thursday and team spokesman Brian Facchini said he could not confirm the deal under NBA rules.

“Exstension for 5 more years wit the thunder….God Is Great, me and my family came a long way…I love yall man forreal, this a blessing!” Durant tweeted.

Jazz acquiring Wolves’ Jefferson

The Utah Jazz are acquiring forward Al Jefferson from the Minnesota Timberwolves, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.

The source said the trade will be completed sometime Tuesday. The Jazz will take on Jefferson by using the trade exception they obtained in their sign-and-trade deal that sent Carlos Boozer to the Chicago Bulls.

The Jazz also expect to send the T’wolves a protected first-round pick they acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies last season in the Ronnie Brewer trade and another future first-round pick. More than anything, the T’wolves are making the deal to get off the remaining three years and $42 million on Jefferson’s contract. They have been looking to trade Jefferson for some time after deciding to build around forward Kevin Love.

Free-agent point guard Luke Ridnour also is close to agreeing on a four-year, $16 million contract with the T’wolves. Minnesota has been trying to trade point guard Ramon Sessions, who it signed to a four-year, $16 million deal a year ago.

Bobcats send Chandler to Dallas in 5-player deal

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)—Tyson Chandler has been traded after all, just not to the team he thought a day earlier.

After Charlotte’s potential deal with Toronto fell through, the Bobcats sent Chandler and fellow center Alexis Ajinca to the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday for center Erick Dampier, forward Eduardo Najera, shooting guard Matt Carroll and cash considerations.

The Bobcats had been closing in on a deal that would’ve sent Chandler and Boris Diaw to Toronto for Jose Calderon and Reggie Evans. Chandler was told he was being sent to the Raptors by his agent, but the deal dissolved.

The new trade gives the Bobcats a center in Dampier, but leaves them still searching for a point guard to replace departed free agent Raymond Felton.

Ilgauskas to sign with Miami Heat

MIAMI (AP)—Zydrunas Ilgauskas is following LeBron James to the Miami Heat.

The veteran center, who started playing for Cleveland in 1997 and has never suited up for another NBA team, expects to sign a two-year contract with the Heat later this week, agent Herb Rudoy said Tuesday. The two-year deal would come with a player option for the second season, Rudoy said.

Nets-Warriors make sign-and-trade deal for Morrow

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)—The New Jersey Nets have acquired guard Anthony Morrow in a sign and trade deal with the Golden State Warriors.

The deal was completed on Tuesday, just a day after the Nets handed Morrow an offer sheet on a three-year, $12 million contract.

The Warriors, who were not expected to match the offer, will get the Nets’ second-round draft pick in 2011. The pick is protected if it falls between 31 to 55.

Morrow averaged 13.0 points last season, shooting 46 percent from 3-point range.
