Verified Trader,
Where did November go? I can't believe the holiday madness is nearly upon us, from here on out it's one event after another until New Year's. But before the chaos strikes, wanted to share my pickups for the month of November. A lot of shout outs to HI members for alerting me to cards that surfaced, helped me acquire them, and generously gifted them. It is amazing how a significant percentage, especially of the best show-worthy stuff, seems to have some HI involvement!
For my ITG Vintage Memorabilia project just one pickup this month - the "easiest" card remaining on my wish list with 6 copies... the last 5 cards I need are mostly x/5 with one quad memorabilia x/3. This brings me up to 83 out of the 88 card set.
Taking a wee detour from hockey, I've really enjoyed chasing UD Dinosaurs on ePack... nearly finished the master set excluding sketch cards and some rare redemptions. Picked up a couple cards that I'm really happy with this month. First up the last Predators of the Sea shadowbox card I needed for that tough to complete subset.
And on the sketch card front, I occasionally try to pick up cards that appeal to me visually, this two panel sketch card just looked so striking, I had to buy it!
Ok back to hockey... for my Lord Stanley's Mug project, a couple 1/1's from the same Auto / Memorabilia subset which takes me up to 191 different 1/1's from the set! The Messier listing on ebay wasn't too obvious as the primary picture shown was the back of the card, and the title didn't mention 1/1... I almost glanced past it but glad the auction caught my eye. And a huge stick tap to lucscaps for the help acquiring the Mikita - lucscaps spotted it I believe on Facebook and kindly helped me to negotiate a cash n trade deal with the owner.
That's not all for Mug, also picked up a Henri Richard tribute gold auto 1/1 which takes me to 192! I owe a thanks here to crjeff who spotted this one on ebay and gave me a heads up.
It wouldn't be a SedinFan show without some Sedins. First up, a promo show stamped Heroes & Prospect 1/1 - I already have the gold Montreal 1/1, goes nicely with the silver one I just picked up.
Oddly I've picked up 11 Daniel Sedin plates from last year's sets (out of 24 produced), but this Henrik from 16-17 UD was only my second Hank.
While I'm not really the biggest fan of printing plates, there's something pretty satisfying about putting together a quad. From the flood of plates that came out in National Treasures, this is my ninth complete set - this one from 10-11 Zenith Chasing the Cup subset, the Cyan was the final piece of the puzzle.
A big thank you to newfiecomicguy1 who sent me this jersey numbered 15-16 MVP gold of Henrik. MVP golds are tough enough to even find as it is (I still need the Daniel from this set, the only x/100 card I need), finding a jersey numbered gold is really exciting!
Hadn't seen one of these surface for quite a while, but finally found a 16-17 SPGU Game Gear.
Took me a long time to find a Henrik Ultimate Collection x/3 tag from last year's set... shortly after this "Ree" surfaced the "bok" showed up on comc. Gotta admit I was pretty tempted to pick up both, but I'm trying to be somewhat restrained and limit the cards I hoard more than one copy of to a very select few, otherwise where does it end?
I'm not entirely sure how to even categorize the new Sedin cards from Leaf - unlicensed cards with no player photo, I consider them more oddball than mainstream. Nevertheless it's pretty cool completing a rainbow, tough to do with serial numbering of 12, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1/1. I at least can appreciate how, unlike a lot of Leaf rainbows these days where nothing really changes but the colour of the foil, they seem to have made an effort to use progressively nicer swatches on the rarer copies.
Nearing the end of this month's show, have a few Cup goodies to show. In 16-17 Cup only Daniel was included in the main set, and HI has played a huge part in my PC here.
First up, a big thanks to Frank for giving me a shout when he pulled the Danny jersey numbered base... and not too long after I made a deal with S4kh4r0v for the gold parallel. Last month I showed the Shield parallel which came courtesy of a deal with Triple B!
Oddly I've completed the base x/249, x/12, and 1/1 rainbow (the Black 1/1 is incoming)... while on the memorabilia side I've got the shield and the tag x/4 is incoming. I still have yet to even see a single copy of the patch x/8 surface (or the button x/3)... funny that I've found both 1/1's already, and this printing plate as well.
Also from 16-17 Cup I really like the look of these red quad tags, UD did a nice job here IMO.
Finally from 16-17 Cup, I'm a sucker for nameplates, only have managed to find this letter N so far, but always on the lookout for more.
Sticking to the theme of nameplate letter N's, I also found essentially the same card but from the previous year 15-16.
And that's not all from 15-16 Cup, I also pick up this triple button brick of a card (man is it thick!), sadly I fell asleep at the wheel and missed out on a quad button from the same set.
Last but not least, the reason for my corny title... well it's really not so much what the doctor ordered at all, but rather what I ordered from the doctor. When Dr. Price had his recent 25% off sale that included Made To Order cards, I just had to pick up a pair of Sedins for my PC. I think Dr. Price picked me out a nice couple of swatches on these, thanks for a pair of cornerstones for my PC!
