I love a good MMA match but I find there is usually only one or two good fights per card. Now the k1 is stacked fight after fight. I have been watching K1 since 2000 and I could not even guess how many crazy ko's I have seen. So what do you like better?

I'd go with UFC, because it's really the only MMA I know. I consider myself a fairly casual fan, but a fan none the less.

I enjoy watching K-1, but it contains only one aspect of the martial arts realm. I'm more interested in the tactical battle that is MMA. I mean knockouts generally get the get on your feet OMG moment like last night when Russow knocked out Duffee, but my favorite finish of the year so far has been Paulo Thiago choking Mike Swick unconscious because again it combined everything a flash knock down and a measured, yet precise submission. And as far as MMA goes I've always been more partial to the UFC over Pride, Strikeforce, Dream, Sengoku, KOTC, MFC etc. I think the rules that the UFC has are better. I really think that not allowing elbows on the ground is a joke. I can't remember if that's always been a rule in Strikeforce, or if it's because of their CBS deal. But with Pride it never made sense to me that elbows on the ground were illegal but soccer kicks were legal. I also prefer cage to ring.

I'm the complete opposite, Pride was amazing, I miss that organization. I prefer the ring, people hold you against the cage, which makes boring fights. And as for the elbow rule, they're so sharp all they do is cut fighters. Back to the topic, you can't compare UFC and K-1, it's like comparing lacrosse and hockey.

i would go with Pride and UFC over K1, again as mentioned, because K1 is only 1 aspect of MMA - i enjoy the ground game alot as i'm a jits practicioner. good topic

I guess it's a question of do you like your fights to be stand up or on the ground. I prefer the standing game but I do love a good ground fight. what I hate is when a guy just acts like a blanket and just lays on a guy round after round. Though it may be effective its boring and fights should never be boring.

What sold me on K1 was the vicious kos you see almost every fight. Guys like Le banner, Crocop, Hoost, and Aerts were my favorites in the heavyweight category.

The myth that all elbows do is cut fighters has always bothered me, they're also good for knocking people out on the ground and they also make it easier for a fighter to pass.

As for the stalling that goes on up against the cage, the same thing happens all the time in the ring.

An example is the Sakuraba vs. Smirnovas fight from K-1 Heroes. This was a great fight, but the only reason that fight wasn't stopped a minute in is because Saku had gotten underneath the ropes, and the ref brought him back in. In a cage Smirnovas would have gotten his rightful knockout.

I have to agree with you it, lay and pray is freaking boring.

I still find elbows kinda cheap, it doesn't require much power, you don't really need to connect full force with them, a lot of fighters will throw elbows then if they miss, they'll rub it in your face (Tito Ortiz).

I didn't mean stalling, I meant they use the cage against you, as in push you against the fence and you can't go anywhere, whereas the ring, you can just roll off and move aside, which makes for more action. If the refs saw there was no action, they'd make you stand up (much more than the UFC). If they were stuck in the ropes, the fight would resume in the middle, I just find Pride made better fights imo, their cards were always stacked and those tourneys were sick.
