As some of you have seen, I posted a request for help for a friend of mine who lost his precious Topps baseball set collection in the Katrina Storms. I wanted to ask that people trade me Boxes of Topps baseball so the 2 of us could open them together and work on getting the collection back. Since some of the cards were handed down from his grandfather to his father and then to him, they are irreplacable, but I want to help him get his gems back.
The Outpouring of help has been fantastic. I have gotten so many offers from so many people that I had to start turning down some folks because we were getting too much of the same things. I couldnt believe it. Though I posted the request for help on 2 other sites, I recieved about 40 offers to trade me boxes so that I could keep the costs down but help a good friend at the same time.
We have now completed the 87 Topps Set, the 89 Topps set and about half of the 90 and 92 sets. I have had some offers on some newer boxes, but havent hammered out deals yet. Unfortunately, the older boxes I have been offered were cash/trade offers and the cash was more than I had to offer.
I wanted to take time to thank the Hobby Insider Community for the generous support. Please continue to bring me those offers. Will accept offers of Topps boxes from any years other than 87 and 89 since those are now finished. All extras from the boxes we open will be donated to local childrens homes and hospitals, so rest assured that nothing will be wasted.
