Just as a heads up to all of you on the board. I sold an 09 Cup Honorable Numbers Crosby #53/87 to an Ebay buyer in Miami. Mailed with Delivery Confirmation, which showed that the package was delivered on 8/28 at 9:07 a.m. Buyer claims he never received the package.
His window of complaint, is that he knows that the package could not have been delivered at that time, as either he was home at that time, or actually has an afternoon delivery route, so he knew that the carrier did not scan it as it was left for delivery. Apparently the USPS admitted that the carrier was not following procedures, he was scanning D/C items while he was sorting his route to be delivered while still at the Post Office. So we have a he said/he said scenario. That would be enough of a headache, except for a few other things that set off alarms in my head.
So after a few days, the buyer apparently goes through all this complaining with the Post Office, then opens an Ebay case on the item.....BUT opens a case where "Item Significantly Different Than Purchased", NOT an item not received case......and I immediately think that he KNOWS he can't say the package wasn't received, because I have proof.....so I am thinking he is going to try to return a package to me, claim he sent back the Crosby, and file a claim or say I am trying to cheat him..... (Not too worried, I have already spoken with Ebay rep who went through the story with me and said I have more than sufficient proof to show that I shipped and they will deny his claim....)
So here's where it also gets more interesting.....Solt0131 and I were at his house ebay shopping for 05-06 Cup cases/prices, and I came across an item that a Diamond Club member was selling.....preview packs of The Cup....and he was using a scan of the missing Crosby card to pimp the auction!! S/N plain as day! Yes, I realize that he could have just snagged a scan... BUT Solt sent him an email trying to see if the Crosby HN was available, to which he replied that the card was sold.....?!?!?!?!? So if he just snagged a scan, why not just say it was just a snagged scan???? Just too coincidental for me. So anyway, if anyone reading this is still awake.... here's a scan of my original pull:
Here's my sale to the guy in Miami:

And here's a link to the sale of the Cup pack with the scan:

The left patch and the serial number are just too easy to see. So its probable that this is just a snagged scan, but just a warning to all of you if you see this card, especially in the Miami area or in the California area, where the pack seller is. Either way, this card is bound to surface again, so approach anyone who has it with caution, and I would LOVE to find a connection or link to file FEDERAL mail theft or fraud charges on any of those involved with this.
And while Ebay told me that I am safe from any claim, I am not just going to drop it, especially if I can determine a path that this card followed. I did it before with an 06 Cup Zetterberg Emblems of Endorsement that I was scammed out of, so it can be done, and I eventually got paid from my scammer.
