Just as a heads up to all of you on the board. I sold an 09 Cup Honorable Numbers Crosby #53/87 to an Ebay buyer in Miami. Mailed with Delivery Confirmation, which showed that the package was delivered on 8/28 at 9:07 a.m. Buyer claims he never received the package.

His window of complaint, is that he knows that the package could not have been delivered at that time, as either he was home at that time, or actually has an afternoon delivery route, so he knew that the carrier did not scan it as it was left for delivery. Apparently the USPS admitted that the carrier was not following procedures, he was scanning D/C items while he was sorting his route to be delivered while still at the Post Office. So we have a he said/he said scenario. That would be enough of a headache, except for a few other things that set off alarms in my head.

So after a few days, the buyer apparently goes through all this complaining with the Post Office, then opens an Ebay case on the item.....BUT opens a case where "Item Significantly Different Than Purchased", NOT an item not received case......and I immediately think that he KNOWS he can't say the package wasn't received, because I have proof.....so I am thinking he is going to try to return a package to me, claim he sent back the Crosby, and file a claim or say I am trying to cheat him..... (Not too worried, I have already spoken with Ebay rep who went through the story with me and said I have more than sufficient proof to show that I shipped and they will deny his claim....)

So here's where it also gets more interesting.....Solt0131 and I were at his house ebay shopping for 05-06 Cup cases/prices, and I came across an item that a Diamond Club member was selling.....preview packs of The Cup....and he was using a scan of the missing Crosby card to pimp the auction!! S/N plain as day! Yes, I realize that he could have just snagged a scan... BUT Solt sent him an email trying to see if the Crosby HN was available, to which he replied that the card was sold.....?!?!?!?!? So if he just snagged a scan, why not just say it was just a snagged scan???? Just too coincidental for me. So anyway, if anyone reading this is still awake.... here's a scan of my original pull:

Here's my sale to the guy in Miami:

And here's a link to the sale of the Cup pack with the scan:

The left patch and the serial number are just too easy to see. So its probable that this is just a snagged scan, but just a warning to all of you if you see this card, especially in the Miami area or in the California area, where the pack seller is. Either way, this card is bound to surface again, so approach anyone who has it with caution, and I would LOVE to find a connection or link to file FEDERAL mail theft or fraud charges on any of those involved with this.

And while Ebay told me that I am safe from any claim, I am not just going to drop it, especially if I can determine a path that this card followed. I did it before with an 06 Cup Zetterberg Emblems of Endorsement that I was scammed out of, so it can be done, and I eventually got paid from my scammer.

Ebay is such a scary place to sell and buy. It seems to be getting worst for people getting ripped off on there. I am going through a PP claim right now. I shipped a comic guy says it didn't show. He got my auto response that I was on vacation and that I would be a way for 2 weeks but would follow up on all emails the day I get back. The transaction was only 2 weeks old at the time so he puts in a claim and opens it all in the same day. He wanted to try and get it in before I could get a chance to respond (10 days). Lucky I was at a friends and responded just in time.

I forwarded all the tracking and postal info along with scans. Looks like I could be out the $170 and the comic. A decision was suppose to be made Sept 2ND but PP sent me an email telling me that the case required more time. I am hoping that is a good thing even though they have $170 frozen in my PP account. Usually these things don't go well for the seller but I am trying to be optimistic.

Scott, good luck! I am going through a very similar situation and my funds have been frozen since June. How long does it take to find a competent person to make a decision at paypal?

I agree with that one Terry - I have not had good experiences with Ebay or Paypal. I do my best to stay away from both avenues for purchase and sales.

Scary to see that a 100% feedback guy do this,... this is very shady. I have seen people with 1000+ feedback at 100% with $.99 items to increase their buyer confidence. However, it appears some are waiting for a one big ticket item to scam using that built up reputation/equity. It's a very sad world,...

I feel much better about knowing people who can vouch for one another with past transactions.

Ugh,... I wish you the best of luck with your situation!!!

The guy selling the boxes clearly ripped your scan. It's not even a different scan of the same card, it's a flat out copy/paste of your image,

Whether or not he has/had the card is another issue.
