Kessel to Penguins...

Ya but the leafs retained up to 25% of the salary. McKenzie or Dreger suggested this is part one of the deal. Part 2 to follow.

Aren't the Pens near the cap???

What I was thinking... only in year two of an eight year deal at 64 million. I would assume an 8 million cap hit, no? I sense another Pens trade coming up... or they did say multi-player deal... Sutter, who else?

According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, the Leafs will receive forward Kasperi Kapanen, defenceman Scott Harrington and a first-round pick.

Ok, 15%... but does that cover cap space for another team? That's crazy... good luck to the guy trying to keep tabs on team salary levels. So full 8 comes off Toronto cap, only 6.8 goes on Pittsburgh's. So player gets 8 million reall dollars still, but 1.2 million in cap space vanishes like a fart in the wind, lol. Or... does that 1.2 stay a hit on the Leafs cap for six more years?

Prospects, and picks for a top tier goal scorer? They didn't even get Pouliot, or Mattaa. What a joke! Can't wait till Toronto gets a 2nd team, so I can cheer for someone else. Good news is there will be tons of Leafs tickets available this year.

Nick Spaling headed back to his hometown. #Penguins get $2.2 million off the books. So this year Kessel deal costs Pens approx $4.55M

Kessel, Tyler Biggs, Tim Erixon and 2nd in 2016 for Kapanen, Harrington, Spaling, 1st and 3rd picks in 2016. TOR retains $1.25M/year

What I want to know is; who is going to score goals for the Toronto Maple Leafs? They just lost their leading scorer since 08/09. And he was the main 'feeder' of their second leading scorer for the last two years.

Parenteau???

Leafs are tanking. Scorched earth approach. They're blowing it up and re-building. Auston Matthews sweepstakes!
