Verified Trader,
It has been a very long time since I have done a show and tell, so I figured I would start with the most recent season of pick-ups, and (hopefully) work my way backwards with another post or two. Here goes -
After appearing in seven Upper Deck sets in 2014-15, I was excited to see what 2015-16 would bring from Upper Deck. They gave me hope with a Legends card in OPC…and then nothing else the rest of the year. I still love putting together all of the OPC parallels, so it was nice to see Kolzig in the set.
Here is the 2015-16 Kolzig rainbow, minus one. I have still not seen a single Kolzig OPC Blank Back. If anyone knows where I can find one, please let me know!
The rest of the post is a Leaf show. A huge thanks goes to LeafGregg and Leaf for fitting Kolzig into so many sets this past year, and keeping my collection going! I hope to have many more Kolzig cards to chase this year.
First up was Superlative:
300 Win Club Silver /15, and a Cyan Printing Plate 1/1
And a nice unexpected NHL shield card. Only the second shield card ever produced of Kolzig.
I was a huge fan of the initial iteration of Stickwork, so I was happy to see Kolzig included in the Leaf version.
Somehow, I missed the Gold Prismatic Stick 1/1 on ebay. If anyone knows where it is, I would love to complete both rainbows!
Stick Silver /7 (x2)
Stick Gold /5 (x2)
Printing Plates 1/1
A handful of Silver Paddles /30
Gold /5 (x2)
Gold Prismatic 1/1
This is a bit of a strange card – a printing plate for a Stick Rack card featuring Kolzig that never made it into the product. Definitely an interesting addition to the collection.
Kolzig made several appearances in last year’s Leaf Ultimate.
The Auto Memorabilia Rainbow, plus a couple of printing plates
Silver /40, Blue Spectrum /8, Gold Spectrum /3, Silver Spectrum 1/1, and Magenta and Black Printing Plates 1/1
Auto Patch Rainbow, plus a few extras
Silver /12 (x5), Blue Spectrum /4 (x2), Gold Spectrum /2 (x2 – Mini Quincy?), Silver Spectrum 1/1
Dual Jerseys with Jose Theodore
Silver /30, Blue Spectrum /8, Gold Spectrum /3
Dual Patches. I have half the print run of the base Silver version, but have still never seen a Blue Spectrum /5 or a Gold Spectrum /2. If anyone can help me complete the rainbow, please let me know!
Silver /8 (x4) and Silver Spectrum 1/1
The Quad Signatures Rainbow, plus a printing plate –
Silver /12, Blue Spectrum /4, Gold Spectrum /2, Silver Spectrum 1/1 and a Cyan Printing Plate 1/1
Six Signatures. When I saw this on the sell sheet, I knew it was going to be tough with all of the other well-collected goalies on the card. I was lucky enough to pick up the Gold Spectrum /2 on the first day of release, and the Blue Spectrum /4 just came in last month.
Leaf Metal brought another surprise inclusion of Kolzig in the Pride of a Nation subset. I really enjoy international hockey themed cards, and I love the shiny, reflective stock on these cards. I have almost completed the rainbow, with just the gold superfractor (I think that is what it is called) left to find.
Silver /25, Blue /15, Purple /10, Pink /7, Black /5, Green /3, Red /2, Gold 1/1 and a Cyan Printing Plate 1/1
A few extras that I have picked up along the way
This was Kolzig’s first appearance in a Heroes & Prospects set. I love the new image Leaf used, and the clean design of the Heroes autos. I still have the Purple /5 left on my wantlist, and the Silver 1/1 and Yellow plate needed to complete the full rainbow.
Bronze /30; Emerald /10 (x2); Platinum /3 (x2); Gold 1/1; Magenta, Cyan, and Black Plates 1/1
Leaf Genesis – Capitals Franchise Legacy Jersey Rainbow
Bronze /35, Emerald /15, Purple /10, Platinum /5, Silver /3, Gold 1/1 and Cyan Printing Plate 1/1
ITGU – the original is still one of my favorite products, so I was happy to see Kolzig in a Triple Jersey/Patch card in the most recent ITGU release. I was also happy to be the recipient of Sedinfan’s (Dave) generosity, as he opened a box of ITGU and sent me the Silver Kolzig jersey pictured below. Thank you again Dave.
With all of the ITGU rainbows that have been shown on HI, I find it strange that I still have not seen a single copy of the jersey or patch numbered less than 5. Hopefully, they will show up eventually.
Triple Jersey Silver /45, Gold /20 and Red Spectrum /5
Triple Patch Silver /9, Gold /5 (x3), and a Cyan Printing Plate 1/1
Thanks for the look. Please give me a shout if you can help me fill any of these holes.
