Now that Kovy has been traded New Jersey Devils , what kind of impact will he generate in the hobby? Do you think his cards will be more expensive or less expenisive?

I don't see his hobby presence changing much, if at all. Most of the Kovalchuk collectors out there I know weren't Atlanta fans...they were Kovy fans. I see his high end stuff possibly taking a slight tumble if he stays in NJ only because the patches won't be as nice, but that's a couple years yet since UD's probably got plenty of Atlanta stuff of his left.

iam a kovy collector and i think if he has a long and productive playoff run his stuff might get a small boost. it would also help if he resigns with new jersey becouse every seems to think he's headed off to the khl.

I think it stays equal , all things considered neither team has a rabid collectors base ( i know a few more Devils guys) . But chances are free agency will determine his future collectivity.

I agree with this. If he signs in a Canadian, or original six market his stuff will get more attention. Other than that, I see no change.

It's a short-term bump for anybody in the NJ-NY area that wants to get on the bandwagon but I think that most folks that aren't already collecting him will be waiting to see what happens on July 1st.

I'll be different and predict a good increase in interest and also prices for his memorabilia cards...his first effort with his new team produced two assists...and he's a talented player now on a talented team, so I expect more to come. Time will tell but I suspect he'll get noticed by more collectors and with increased demand will come increased prices.

I always figure Kovy had a market not because he was an Atlanta Thrasher but because he was 1. one of the best goal scorers in the league. 2. Russian

I don't think moving around is going to change much for him, although Devils fans are among the bigger collectors in the sport along with Rangers, Islanders, Sabres, Wings, Flyers, Pens and a few other US teams. I don't expect much change until he actually signs with a team.
