Lack Of 18-19 UDS1 Sale Threads Is Concerning

I'm not talking much about UD1 because the only card I care about from it is the Kotkaniemi YG. I was hoping that Walmart would restock their megaboxes before the end of their sale, but it's too late. I'll be taking my time, looking for a decent deal on one, and that's about it for UD1 for me.

I've had really mixed results trying to trade/buy on Facebook. I keep running into random guys who've declared themselves "dealers" with "stores". I should, therefore, give them 2x value on cards in any trade. It's really quite odd.

I also think that most collectors are all chasing the same cards these days. There are very few set builders, and everyone just wants the higher end YGs. Those have skyrocketed in price and everything else seems worthless. EPack probably plays a large part here too. As any set collectors can easily fill out their sets via EPack trades.

If the hobby's moving to Facebook, then I'm out. I want nothing to do with that company.

It's not moving there. Some people have found it very convenient to deal there. The buy/sell here has really slowed down I've gone back to doing more on ebay and just adjusting my prices to account for the higher fees.

Diddo on the 10.00. I cant even make a sale/trade to Canada unless its "worth my cost" in shipping.

Ive also notice way less show n tells and less trading. I prefer to trade even if its not always in my favor because I hate ebay's 10% cut worse.

QUOTE I think you see more activity on the FB groups becasue they aren't policed like things are here. Here if people get out of line, you're getting suspended and then the banhammer. You typically know what you're getting into on here and who you're dealing with.

Also on FB, people just throw up 50 pictures of random stuff and hope for bites. People here are 100 times more organized which takes more time and therefore less sales/trade threads. Combine that with the fact that it's getting increasingly more difficult to find a image site to hold all your images to post, makes it even harder.

Also, the fact that I have to pay $10 to ship a card outside the US puts a real damper on my ability to make trades/sales.[/QUOTE]

Yea international trades are pretty pointless now with how expensive shipping is. I miss the days in the early 00's when we were trading cards and shipping was dirt cheap .

Im not gonna pretend I know anything about the American Postal systems. But this is the second purchase in the last month I have made from this American seller and he is shipping at a cost of 1.15 US. Both cards were in the $20 value range. This may not work for higher end cards, and I have heard some people who cant get their PO to allow them to ship this way.....but this guy certainly can

yea this has been discussed numerous times in other threads. He's sending it in an envelope as documents. So it's not sent as merchandise in a bubble mailer (package)

In Canada, many people are putting the stamps themselves on the bubble-mailers and dropping them in the big Canada Post red boxes. Stuff is sent to big sorting centers and the robots don't care if it's a document or a piece of cardboard.

So in the spirit of the thread title, is there simply less of the product being opened? I generally buy on eBay, and perhaps it's old-fashioned of me to use eBay as a barometer, but I do.

I have been trying to finish off the Jagr Years cards. I have not even seen a single Devils or Panthers /10 patch; and only one or two of the others.

No doubt. I do think UD1 was broken more aggressively than other recent products, but there must be stockpiles of last year's and this year's wax at distributors, D & A, etc... I am hoping there is a fire sale at some point, being the wax junkie that I am.

17-18 UD1 retail is already seriously discounted.
