Well, this was a strange one.

After watching a group break of this year's SPX, and the absolute ignorance of the ePack program (and a host of other reasons, really), I took a big breath and realized that I may actually be done actively collecting cards. I still had the desire to take my lists and see what I could do with them, but if it was anything like the last show I was probably only furthering my misery.

My brother from another mother and I went Sunday at open. With tickets purchased online, we encountered no wait and an empty floor. We did a spin of the building to check wax prices, and then set into conquering our lists, with the intention of grabbing the wax we decided on at the end.

Halfway through the show and I had bought four records. Yep, definitely looked grim for my time in the hobby.

Then, I wandered past a table where the dealer was so polite to each child, each trader, each question, I felt compelled to root through his stuff. I bought forty bucks in PC cards, made sure he knew the hobby would stay alive because of guys like him, and moved on.

I could find very little that peaked my interest. Bailed on buying a 1910 card, bailed on buying a 1951 card, bailed on a Gretzky RC, just couldn't muster the love. Then I bumped into Quincy.

Steve (the above mentioned Quincy) is always good for a handshake, a few polite words, and a laugh or two. When I expressed my blues about collecting, he suggested I spring for a non-sports and see what they are doing in other areas. Although, it was no Spidey, it still ended up being the best decision of the trip. Thanks Steve.

Much like last show, Darren and I opened all the packs and drafted the hits. A great time was had.

Ambrose is 10/10!!!

I LOVVVVVEEE the whole Wizard of Oz series of books, so I jumped at a chance to score a box, a binder, and a promo card for $35. Came home and cracked it with the wife and my 10 year old, and loved every second. And got an unannounced super hit!!!

Sketch card and a triple memorabilia piece!!

Then, on the way to the doors I stood at Grizzly's and just stared at the table until a couple boxes called to me.

Classics, Mug, and Anthology.

/10 and an /20 in there!

So, here are some of the spoils. The box breaks are mostly intact, other than a few minor trades with Darren (goalieguy01). I guess I am still around for now, so come trade with me!!

Thanks for looking, Shaun.

Nice post, glad you were able to pickups some stuff you liked. That Oz triple memorabilia piece is so cool! I've never seen anything like that before. Thanks for sharing your expo trip!

Non-sports and baseball has kept me in the card game as of now. I still dabble in hockey but with any focus or passion like I had for almost 30 years. Good call by Steve and glad you had a good time!
