Little late to the party, but being locked up in the house with no where to go other than work gets to a man! Decided I’d do my top pick-ups of 2021. I will have a top 5, but the others come in no particular order. Here is goes!
2019-20 UD The Cup Scripted Sticks /15
Was able to snag this early on in a ebay auction, and was glad to put it away. Finding old Cup cards has become a challenge the last few years.
2013-14 UD The Cup Tag Auto 1/1
2021 was a huge year for me branching out into different areas. Facebook was a real deal breaker for me, and I’m finding the more I put myself out there, the more people come looking for me. Was able to land this one out of thin air after I got a PM from a guy willing to move it.
2011-12 UD Ultimate Triple Patch /10
Another ebay pickup that I felt I got an absolute steal on. 3 great goalies in Team Canada uniforms, just a great looking card
2016-17 UD Spx Dual Patch w/ Jagr /15
Just a regular ebay pickup. Saw a couple on COMC and epack, but the price was too steep. This was added at a much reasonable price. Jagr makes a few appearances on this list!
2013-14 Panini Contenders 8 Person Auto Black 1/1
Again, Facebook was good to me. Someone tagged me in a post for this card, and it was literally the only trade I made all year. Traded a Price Auto Patch and a Roy Auto and was really happy with this card and deal

No fancy write up for this one, just a purchase of Olympic players with sweet patches!!

Missed out on the first few that were listed on ebay and was lucky enough a few months later to snag it for a fraction of the price. One of the very few times patience actually worked for me

Was super pumped when I saw this on the checklist and knew it was something I really wanted to complete. Again, no real story with this one, other than biting the bullet and buying each letter as fast as I could. Happy to put it to rest, and waiting on some custom one touches to make this displayable.

Again, nothing unusual, but love the EE and got this early during the release. Kept an eye on a few copies later, and I think I did pretty well with what I paid for it.

What can I say? Missing out on all the early super high end Luongo’s, I’m just a sucker for anything Pre-2006 that I can add. This one looks much better in person, and was a decent ebay surprise just a little while back

For some reason I am having trouble adding any low numbered Panini products. Was luck enough to connect with someone on Instagram and made a deal to acquire this. May have overpaid a little, but sometimes you just don’t care.
2010-11 UD Artifacts Frozen Artifacts Jersey 1/1
Maybe an underwhelming 1/1, but I love the design of this Artifacts card and was able to snag it at a very reasonable price. A 1/1 is a 1/1 right??

Again, another Facebook card that found me instead of me finding it! In most other post this would crack the top 5, but not this year. Love that it’s hard signed, and haven’t seen another copy yet.

Always super tough to add anything this old thats #ed /5. Was lucky enough to connect with someone on Facebook, that is a member here as well, and we have already completed 3 deals on a ton of Luongo cards I needed. Thanks tragicallynik!!!!
2015 UD Team Canada Master Collection Dual Jersey/Patch w/Brodeur /25
A weird product where the Jersey cards are rarer than the patch, but this one had a cool Olympic rings piece. Made an offer on ebay, and it was mine.
2017-18 UD Splendor Showcase 1/1
Made another huge deal on Facebook for some rare Luongo’s I needed, with this being the centerpiece. This makes it 3 of the 1/1’s from Splendor. Probably won’t own the others as I know who has them, and wants 5 times what I paid for mine. I’m fine owning the 3 I have

#5 – 2016-17 UD The Cup Dual Program Of Excellence w/Thornton /5
Well this one was something that baffled me. I’m usually pretty good with checklists, do my homework and make it as soon as possible. There wasn’t, and still isn’t, and mention of this card in a checklist, but once again Facebook comes to the rescue. During a random scroll I saw this and within minutes I had it coming my way. Haven’t seen another copy yet so really glad to tuck this one away

So this one has quite a story. During the original release I was chasing all the cards as hard as I could, trying to complete all the Cup cards. I picked up redemptions for both of these cards at fair prices. No problem, go to redeem them, and I wait. A few weeks later I get an email from Upper Deck stating that these were packaged in error, and were actually live cards. They replaced them with some decent cards (Matthews Premier Retro Auto Patch /99, Ranntanen FW, etc), and that was that. It took me 4 years to track down the real copies, with the last one coming only a few weeks ago. Here they are
#3 – 2015 Upper Deck Team Canada Master Collection Logo Patch 1/1
This was a card that I never thought I’d own. Saw a post on Facebook from someone stating that the card was pulled in a C&C group break. I had no idea who pulled it, and in a last ditch effort I emailed the guys at C&C and about a week later I got an email saying they would contact the guy on my behalf. I gave up on the idea of owning it, but then, about a month later, I get an email from the guy who pulled it! I quickly made an offer, and he quickly accepted. One of the most unique 1/1’s I own
#2 – 2005-06 UD Ultimate Quad Auto Roy/Brodeur/Giguere/Luongo /5
I was a pretty big completionist from 97-98 to 05-06, only needing a handful of cards, and this was one of them. In 15 years I never saw one for sale, and last year one popped up on ebay. I bid a stupid high amount..... and lost!!! Was pissed, couldn’t sleep for days. Fast forward 6 months, and another copy surfaces, in better condition, and for about $250 less!!! In any other year or situation this would have been my #1 card, but not this year!!

I mean, what can I say? I owned this card in 2006, and regrettable sold it shortly after. Figured at the time I would never have all the 1/1’s and I could use the money to buy other Luongo cards. I did that, and at the time I was happy. Fast forward 10 years, and on 3 separate occasions I failed to strike a deal for it. After the last failed attempt I really gave up hope of getting it back. Then, out of nowhere, I get a message on IG that a guy had it listed for sale. This time I wasn’t letting it get away. We quickly struck a deal, and it’s mine forever! It was even the lead to a story in which Upper Deck featured me in their blog
