I have one fond memory of Roberto. In March 2008, the Wild were playing at home against Vancouver. I was at the game in the press box. Roberto had just flown into town from Florida after his wife had just given birth to their first child (daughter) a day or two before. He gave up a couple goals in the 1st period and then two more in the 2nd and got pulled. After the game, I was walking down to the Wild locker room to listen to interviews, when I ran into Roberto coming out of the visiting locker room. It was just me and him. Not knowing if he'd be grumpy after being pulled during the game, I still had to talk to him. I basically said "Tough game, but HEY! Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. That must've been awesome." His face lit up and he thanked me a lot. He said everyone else inside the locker room asked him hockey questions. He was glad I got personal. He had a big smile. That said it all. He was very nice to me and I wished him well.

Awesome memory. At the end of the day, these guys are all human and value their non-hockey lives even moreso during a grueling season and tough games, media, etc. I'm sure you made his night with that for sure!
