according to TSN.ca, they've been fined 500,000 for awarding a signing bonus to Frogren which violated the CBA, in addition, they've lost their 4th round pick at this years draft.

Wasn't the league the one that approved this contract (and every other contract for that matter) in the first place?

I hate Toronto, but this seems to be utter BS.

When you build a house and it passes inspection but a fault is found later on, it's the burden of the inspectors/local authority.

according to the article, the league stated that the 750k signing bonus didn't comply with the CBA, but Toronto didn't agree with them so they went ahead and did it anyway.
