Hi,

I am looking to add a Mario Lemieux RC (high grade) to my PC. As I am just at the beginning of my search I would like to get a couple expert opinions on which grading company to go for for this particular card and what price ranges they are changing hands...

I highly appreciate your feedback either in here or via PM

Thanks
Herbert

I go with PSA on all older cards and price I recommend checking ebay completed items for prices. I assume you are talkin OPC? Here is the price range patterns that I noticed PSA 9 $500-450, PSA 8 $200-150, PSA 7 $120-100

Beckett is every bit as good as psa until you go back to 79-80 and earlier. Then I would go with psa.

Naaa, Beckett grades cut cards, therefore for anything pre-1990, PSA is the only way to go.

Check sales, the market reflects this.

BGS has the superior holders, hands down. They are thicker, stronger and more durable, and the inner-sleeve keeps the cards more secure and prevents (for the most part) the card from sliding around. PSA cards, well they seem to sell for more, have inferior holders and are more flimsy and more likely to break or crack. They might display better, but I'd rather go with the better protection. PSA cards tend to also slide around in their holders. Maybe in certain cases PSA's sell for more, but for the above reasons I'd go with BGS/BV.

trends in Industry tend to be PSA for pre 1980s and Beckett for the newer stuff..esp modern RCs..you can do whatever you want..but if resale is important..I would tend to stick to these guidelines...and certainly avoid KSA, GMA, SGC and all others that are far inferior grading companies
