shop talk led me to this 2 part thread

if you had the chance at any of the following which would you prefer

1.. pull a Crosby or McDavid cup arp
2.. pull a shield card of orr or gretzky or howe or any high profile player
3... own a rookie game worn jersey of wayne gretzky
4.... own a rookie game worn jersey of gordie howe
5... own a rookie game worn jersey of bobby orr ........ my choice
6... own a rookie game worn jersey of rocket Richard

second part ...witnessing nhl history live

1...game 7 of the Stanley cup finals
2... witnessing a Stanley cup banner being raised to the rafters
3... witnessing a players number being raised to the rafters.......... my choice
4.... live nhl draft
5... being at a game where an nhl record is broken

lets have fun guys and gals

own a rookie game worn jersey of wayne gretzky (I would love a Roy myself but of the choices that is the one I would want)

witnessing a players number being raised to the rafters (I was able to be there for the Roy retirement in Montreal)

As a side note, I was also lucky enough to be at the Montreal game with Koivu came back from his battle with cancer and that was very emotional to see how the entire crowd reacted.

Great thread.

I would say
own a rookie game worn jersey of bobby orr
and game 7 of the Stanley cup finals
Side note
Best game I was at live 87 Canada Cup Final in Hamilton

can't really go wrong with the choices... here are my picks

own a rookie game worn jersey of wayne gretzky (other guys were before my time)
pulling a nice arp or shield is amazing but owning a rookie gamer from the choices given imo tops pulling any card.

second part is tougher.. but if it's my team then this for sure
witnessing a Stanley cup banner being raised to the rafters

Wow tough choice
First I will go with the Maurice Richard rookie jersey.

Then game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals.
Especially if it’s Edmonton against Pittsburgh since I’m dreaming.

Gretzky gamer for sure.

I've actually, if you can believe this, done ALL on your list of NHL history live and will say, without a doubt having done all, Game 7 of The Cup Finals is unparalleled electricity in a building. There is NOTHING like it in sports.

A game where a record could be broken, there is a chance of that, you know that going in. Exciting if it happens, but depends on the record too. Most of the top one's will never fall now so not sure how excited I'd be?

A Banner? Sure it's awesome, but you know the deal if you've done those before; speeches, old teammates, banner with family with a spotlight on it rising up. It's cool, but you just kind of you know what you're getting.

Stanley Cup banner? See above.

NHL Draft is probably my bottom of this list. Most times you know the #1 pick, nothing real exciting, they pull on a jersey. Yawn.

Game 7 between two team where anything can happen and the last game of the season is guaranteed, you're there and you will see the ultimate trophy in sports hoisted in front of you? There is absolutely NOTHING better. Nothing.

Mine was Game 7 in 2001 and I saw Ray Bourque lift it after 22 years in the league. Goosebumps. Chills. All that. What a moment. One of the best moments ever in NHL history.

My choices....

If you had the chance at any of the following which would you prefer

own a rookie game worn jersey of wayne gretzky - he is the Greatest!

second part ...witnessing nhl history live

Game 7 of the Stanley cup finals - I have witnessed a Game 6 Final game that decided a Cup already (1991 Pittsburgh winning the Cup in Game 6 in Minnesota ....an 8-0 win)

Witnessing a players number being raised to the rafters - I witnessed Bill Masterton's #19 being raised to the rafters at Met Center in 1987 (North Stars)

Being at a game where an NHL record is broken - I was at the Bruins-North Stars brawl game on February 26, 1981 at Boston Garden...most penalty minutes ever. Record was broken 23 years later (but after added rule changes - added misconduct penalties...so I consider that one having an asterisk * :D ). But it was a record at the time I was there.

http://www.nytimes.com/1981/02/27/sports/bruins-north-stars-set-penalty-marks-1players-ejected.html

So I guess I choose this:

Witnessing a Stanley cup banner being raised to the rafters - it would be a Wild banner of course!

First part.... Crosby RPA. Those things were stunning when they were first released. Still one of the best looking sets I'll ever see.

Second.... Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

I saw a Maple Leafs vs Islanders Game 7 Quarter Final matchup at the ACC back in the day. The atmosphere was incredible when the Leafs won. Can't imagine what a Game 7 Cup final would feel like. Plus seeing a team hoist the Cup would be really cool!

Great thread!

Gretzky Rookie Gamer - I grew up LOVING Wayne Gretzky. I'd love to show it to you, but in grade 6, my mom left for work and told me to wear something nice for picture day. I wore my Edmonton Oilers jersey. She almost murdered me.

Game 7 - nothing can top the excitement of witnessing a team being crowned Stanley Cup Champion. That has to be the most hype moment in all of hockey.

Wow tough choice

This me too...A Richard rookie gamer would be insane :speechless:

Game 7 of the SCF is the epitome of excitement.

The vintage Habs mystique makes it an easy choice for me, I'd take any Rocket Richard jersey, rookie or otherwise.

For the second part, interesting choice. Seeing a jersey retirement would be pretty awesome (hopefully I can make it when the Sedin jerseys go to the rafters), and seeing a record broken if it's a big one is cool... but I think the atmosphere of a huge game is tough to beat, so I'd have to pick game 7 (or I know it's not a choice in this poll, but an Olympic gold medal game / Canada Cup final game... I went to games 2 and 3 in '96 and sadly saw Canada lose both to the darn Americans).

My choices are as follows:

Own a rookie game worn jersey of Wayne Gretzky

Second part ...witnessing NHL history live

Game 7 of the Stanley cup finals
Edmonton defeating Toronto at Rogers Place trailing 4-0 entering the third and winning 5-4 in OT after tying the game with 8 seconds left. GWG: McDavid from Yamamoto and Maroon.

(If you dream- dream big.... and specific.)

:yess:

1 - Gretzky gamer (like others grew up a 99 fan...those other jerseys would be amazing though, esp. the Rocket)
2 - Game 7 Cup Final
