It's at a Holiday Inn and run by Mumbling Muse. Seems like they have a few nice vintage items (Laval Dairy set, 63/64 Topps set, 79/80 Topps and OPC set). Starting prices are OK, but they hit you with 12% tax and 10% buyer's premium. Ouch. I stumbled across this on another website. Anyone know about this?

To be honest, 12% tax is normal here (our federal + provincial sales tax) and a 10% buyer's premium is actually pretty low. Able Auctions charges 15%

Their website looks fancy but doesn't function very well. I can't see the online catalogue at all.

Is anybody around here planning on going to this rather than the card show tomorrow?

I'm not saying any of those things are out of the norm. It's just that when bidding and something seems like a good price, is not such a good price when you get hit with an extra 22% at the end. And since it's in CAD and I'm in USD, it's even more of a hit. It's easy to forget those things.

That didn't make sense to me. With the current conversion rate, if the tax etc is 22% and your winning bid is $100 cdn, it would work out to a little les than $100 usd.

100 US dollars is currently about 121-122 CDN dollars. So you'd be getting the tax/fee more or less 'free.' that of course doesn't account for how much your payment method gouges you on exchange, but that's out of your control.

To help ease the "hit", I will trade you your US dollars for Canadian dollars straight across :) I have to put a cap on it at $1,000,000 though
