Well, I've had a few things come in through the mail, and as well I made a fairly productive trip to a local show. What are my newest additions? Read on:

2-PACK BREAK - 04-05 UD Series 1
Base - Aubin, Boynton, Kiprusoff, Gerber, Blake, Brewer, Conklin
Van Ryn, Sullivan, Friesen, Lindros, Recchi, McCauley, Halpern, Zubrus
Young Guns Legend - Jeremy Roenick
I "enjoyed" this break on Christmas morning, and got a bunch of junk, which was basically to be expected out of this product. My only decent card was of the one player I despise most. OK, OK, I took the hint - I won't be buying any more of this stuff! Roenick's for trade, but I'll be keeping the base.

99-00 BAP Millennium Sapphire Sergei Samsonov (/100)
01-02 Vanguard Premiere Date Sergei Samsonov (/83)
More lovely parallel additions to the Samsonov collection. Both came from ebay; the Vanguard from Mike Guiseffi. Thanks again!

Commons
As mentioned in the thread title, I visited a local card show - the Royal Oak Elks Club show - this past Wednesday. They run these every Wednesday so when I'm at home, I try to hit them now and then. I didn't buy too many commons this time, but picked up a few to fill out my sheet of Parkie Original 6 Detroit, and one mistake from 97-98 SP Authentic that I thought was a rookie, but wasn't.

95-96 Score Black Ice Mike Modano
95-96 Topps Marquee Men Power Boosters Mats Sundin
96-97 SP Roman Turek RC
97-98 Upper Deck Three Star Selects Wade Redden
97-98 SP Authentic Derek Morris RC, Kevin Weekes RC, Zdeno Chara RC
All of these are available for trade. As per my usual strategy, I raided the dime and quarter bins to pick up cheap trade bait. Yes, the Weekes is an extra.

98-99 SPx Finite Global Impact Paul Kariya, Ray Bourque, Mats Sundin
98-99 Upper Deck Lord Stanley's Heroes Sergei Fedorov
98-99 Topps Brad Stuart RC
98-99 UD Choice Choice Reserve Eric Brewer
After buying the SPx Finite cards, I realized that I didn't have a single card from that set on my tradelist - and I already owned quite a few. So, while adding the new additions, I decided to add the rest that I already had. There's nothing monumental, and only about ten cards in all, but in case anyone's interested I can send a list.

00-01 UD Pros and Prospects Mark Smith RC (/1000)
00-01 UD Pros and Prospects Now Appearing Daniel Sedin
02-03 Atomic Blue Chris Drury (/175)
02-03 Atomic Gold Steven Reinprecht (/99)
03-04 BAP Memorabilia Sapphire Markus Naslund (/100)
Again, more items for trade. I paid an entire dollar for the Naslund; I must be a big spender.

01-02 UD Premier Collection Signatures Mike Comrie
01-02 UD Challenge For The Cup Jerseys Ed Belfour
04-05 ITG Heroes and Prospects Jersey Tomas Kopecky (/90)
In all honesty, I don't normally buy trade bait like this at card shows, but it was there, and it was cheap, so I picked these three up.

4-PACK BREAK - 01-02 BAP Update
Decoy - Fleury, Yashin, Bertuzzi, Palffy
BAP Memorabilia - Khabibulin, Turgeon, Berry, Brown
Parkhurst - Brashear, Kasparitis
Between the Pipes - Fiset, Theodore
I've become addicted to breaking the discount BAP products. I actually bought two packs of this and one of 03-04 Memorabilia, and then went back for a second helping of the exact same assortment. Here's the base cards I pulled, with the slightly (but not much) more exciting stuff in the next picture.

Note - each pack of 01-02 BAP Update was $1.50.

4-PACK BREAK - 01-02 BAP Update (cont.)
BAP Memorabilia - Dan Blackburn RC, Pavel Skrbek RC, Kyle Rossiter RC, Lukas Krajicek RC
Parkhurst - Frederic Cassivi RC, Christian Berglund RC
Between the Pipes - Frederic Cassivi RC
BAP Signature Series - Nick Boynton autograph
No, I didn't pull an emerald, but since you're all jumping at the chance to own a rookie card of Pavel Skrbek, I'm proud to announce that it's available for trade, as is everything in this picture except for the Berglund and BTP Cassivi (which I am keeping, as they are the best RCs I own of those two players).

2-PACK BREAK - 03-04 BAP Memorabilia
Decoy - Shanahan, Brodeur
Base - Boucher, Thibault, Noronen, Turek, Miller
Guerin, Richards, Tkachuk, Huselius
Super Rookie Patrice Bergeron
I didn't match the luck I had with my last break of this product, but I only make a pull like that once every year or so. Even still, getting the second best Super Rookie made it a worthwhile experience. Everything is available.

Note - each pack of 03-04 BAP Memorabilia was $2.00.

97-98 SP Authentic Patrik Elias RC, Vaclav Prospal RC, Mike Johnson RC
91-92 UD Czech World Juniors Gretzky Hologram 1 (x2), Gretzky Hologram 2 (x2)
Finally, the items for my own collection! I decided to keep these three RCs for my collection, without any real rhyme or reason. The Gretzky holograms are far more important though. They killed off my master set of 91-92 UD Czech World Juniors (easiest master set ever, perhaps? At least I can say I finished one!). They were in the quarter bin so I decided to get two copies of each. Why? So that instead of just killing the set, I beat it, and dragged it bleeding into a cage with Celine Dion and Rob Ray.

With the full set finally complete, I've begun work on another obscure project. I'm in process of checklisting the actual best-RC of every player in the UD Czech World Juniors set. I will then, of course, attempt to acquire them. However, many of the players don't actually have RCs, and I already have most of the other players accounted for. This project will, once I'm done with my checklists, basically consist of me attempting to acquire fifteen or so 5-10 cent early-mid 90's rookie cards of nobodies. Shouldn't be too difficult.

00-01 Pacific Gold Kyle Freadrich / Kaspars Astashenko (/50)
01-02 Private Stock Retail Blue Sergei Samsonov
Finally, some mojo for the player collections! I always find a ton of Pacific parallels at card shows, but it's very rare that I find one that I actually need. It cost me a dollar, and as with any card that short, is a vital addition to my personal collection. The Samsonov is an obnoxious retail issue that has haunted me since the product came out, but hard work and digging through boxes paid off - it cost me a quarter.

News and notes:

**I had a cliffhanger ending last week about something green and numbered to 10. Well, it's not here yet! But it should make it in for the next post. It's coming from western Canada, meaning it'll get here eventually.

**The Tim Thomas collection had some EXTREMELY good news today. Let's just say that the combined print run of the only cards I'm not accounted for is 11.

**Yeah, the Weekes collection is still stalled. I don't currently have any leads on anything, either, but I'd really like to hit 204 - the 90% mark - sometime soon.

**In the coming weeks, I'll be working on making statistical tallies for ALL of my player collections - and there's about 40 of them. Thanks to Renee (Sparkly) for the motivation :D

**My birthday is in April and I'll be asking for a box or two of discounted BAP stuff. It will be my first box break since December of 1999.

Thanks everyone!

Great read Andy!
And as always I love the pics. It looks like you spend more time on a single pic than I do with a whole mail post, lol!

Congrats on the pickups and can't wait to see that emerald!
