Indeed it will be hard.. and expensive.. but I consider this to be a long term project.
I already have the rarest one incoming.. Magic /24. The most expensive one is Jordan which will cost a lot.. luckily there are 69 of them.

now that I actually look at the card--I think I get the idea. Points, assists and so on

dherm - Career highs of the players.. for Magic and Stockton it's their career highs assists (24 and 28), for most of the others it's the career high in points scored (Jordan 69, Robinson 71, Lebron 43, etc..)

I think it's indeed a cool idea for a set, and a nice design as well.

lebron is actually quite cheap runs like 200.

200 with reserve not met.. but year for around 250 I should have it.
