I am in the process of getting a high value card graded. I’m just wondering how people send these types of cards in the mail. It would be a five digit card sale. I’m not sure how insurance would work on such a high value card. Any advice from previous experienced seller would be great. Thanks

I am almost positive that you will not be able to ship that with Canada Post.. And for me,even though I have never shipped anything that expensive. But even if I was mailing something that was valued a few thousand I had to let the courier wrap it so they knew exactly what was in the package .After all we all know that there are scammers in this business and they cannot let you say it has a Mickey Mantle 52 Topps and it really has a 90 Pro Set hockey card. For me I would always use my local Mail Box etc and let them tell me which company had the best coverage. Insurance is very pricey as well.Last time I sent something that was that much value, insurance was $3.00 per $100 value. And I can almost bet it is more in today's world, Good luck.

FedEx allows coverage up to $100,000. Your insurance will be expensive, but better that than lose twice (money AND card).

I haven’t sold a 5 digit card yet, but that would be my go-to and I would overnight/next day that.

Shipping within Canada you should be ok with FedEx, I had to ship a $7000 card to the USA and the most they would offer was $1000, same with Canada Post. I ended up at UPS before I could get someone to cover it for the full amount.

I think I know that card! Haha

I agree, FedEx or UPS OUT of Canada.

Into Canada I recently sent a $5K card USPS Priority International, no issues.

Best way to ship is via FedEx small box. Have sent very high value cards ( i.e. McDavid Cup and Brady SPx 9.5) without any problem. took three pieces of 8.5 x11 paper around the card, placed in bubble mailer ,ad put bubble mailer into the box. Marked contents as picture cards printed in USA.

Did not insure - as I put minimal value on the shipment.

Have sent this way for years without a problem.

Hope this helps.

im not disputing the process, but if those packages go missing, what happens then. I understand the chances on that particular package are small but anecdotally, i see stories on other forums all the time with high value package went missing.....Are there any courier companies that will insure approproately?

Then it becomes a expense to my business. Chances of a low value package going missing versus a high value package going missing - anyone's guess - but I would bet something that indicates a $100 vs $10,000 value - if it is going to be stolen - I would say the higher value package disappears first.

totally fair

I believe this is incorrect. FedEx small print will say their insurance for collectibles is $1000. They'll let you over pay but if it's lost they'll give you $1000.

I shipped 10k through UPS to Vancouver. It was ~500 CAD all in. I was only covered for loss of package. They $10k insurance didn't cover damages or anything.

Just going by what I was told. You may be absolutely correct. However, as Mr Singer pointed out, a package with a value of $25,000 attached will be a giant blip on anyone’s radar as opposed to a $100 next day package, which will go virtually unnoticed. I tend to spend the money on overnight delivery with a low declaration to stay under anyone’s radar.

UD once sent me a care package via UPS that was destroyed when one of their trucks caught fire. THAT would be my only concern.

Sad, but true.
