Marian Gaborik to Vancouver ?

Unless you plan on playing more than 40 games on average over the next four years - which will never happen

This could be the best move ever for Vancouver if..............

they are never planing on winning a Cup:p

Seriously though, Gaborik is dynamic and is a great player when he is HEALTHY. He is a perfect candidate for an incentive based contract. xx dollars for xx games/goals/ect.

This will be a great deal for both sides if they can sign him for league minimum. Gaborik will be the league's highest paid player on a per game basis, and they might luck out and have him ready for the playoffs by the time he gets over whatever he gets hurt with in that one and only game he plays in the regular season ;)

I could see that happening. Vancouver should have the cap space, and I also know that Demitra and Gabby are good friends. When the they were in town playing the avs a couple years back I saw the whole Wild team eating at the Palm Restaurant in Denver. There were 3 big tables of players making tons of noise/having fun and 1 table that was only Gaborik and Demitra eating quietly. Seems to me they are pretty close.

Yup. If, if, if, the guy could put together a full season, man he'd be phenomenal.

As long as he isn't signed for too much money, I would be so happy if he signed here! I think that an incentive-based contract, like FASTMAX said. If he can get over his injury problems, he could be giving Ovy some competition.

Did anyone ever stop to think that Gaborik's injuries could be caused due to having a poor trainer? I do seem to recall quite a few Wild players nursing injuries quite a bit. If the trainer fails to get his players properly prepaired for the rigors of the game and gives them a false sense of security then the injuries could be their fault and not the players. Personally I would love him on my team.

I sure hope so!

Nick Kyperios (spelling?) was saying his hip surgery from last season was to help his groin. He then pointed out that he came back from the surgery last season and went on a role without getting hurt. Now we were only able to see his health last for a short term time, will his health last for a long term time is the question.

Other reporter(s) said, he bought a house so he has a place to stay during the 2010 olympics but I think he'll sign in Vancouver.

For so many years we've been lacking a pure goal scorer and now one wants to be here, personally I say sign him. No offence with the twins but there's no way I'd sign them for 12 years so we just got to cut those guys off since they haven't done enough for us in the playoffs to warrant that type of contract. Yes they have great regular seasons but do we really measure a successful season by the regular season anymore. You guys might remember a few seasons ago the wild beat us in the second round to get into the conference finals and gaborik had a lot to do with that. If healthy this guy is the top five snipers in the league and will make others around him better. I don't doubt whatever team he plays for next year, he'll play at least 65-70 games. And no I won't bet on that ;)

i bet you Glen Sather can "steal" him, then sign him for the next 6 years, then overpay for him, then watch him from the sidelines before Vancouver can even think of making a move.

With the financial situation of the league the way it is, I can't see too many teams lining up to sign this guy.

It is unfortunate that he is injury prone, but I think teams would be wise to stay away unless he would take a short-term contract (2 years) laden with bonuses... but when you have to give a guy a pile of money just for playing 10 games in a row (haha), maybe it is best to sign another player.

Hmm, kinda sounds like a certain number 24 from the Blackhawks. Missed how many games every year in Chicago until this year - his contract year - imagine that.....
