Martin Brodeur and Record Wins

:eek:6-5 shoot out?

 Who were those masked men in blue & white?

Better yet:

Who were those morons in red white and black who defended Domenic Moore, Ryan Hollweg and Jamal Mayers as if they were Crosby, Heatley and Ovechkin?

If you are jumping off the marty train after that display, please let me know and I will take your collection off your hands.

Not jumping off yet! Tough to do when this is the 27th year in a row that I've picked the Devils & the Flames to meet in the finals.
As for Marty, he'll be down to 8 wins left after the weekend.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Somewhere Patrick Roy is smiling.

Brodeur has won 27 games via the shootout, the most of any goalie. If you subtract the 27 from his current 542, he is sitting at 515 "real" wins.

What we as fans and collectors need to do is evaluate the stigma that has been attached to shootout wins. I for one think it is pretty cool when a goalie stones the other team's 3 best players in a battle of wills... Why would a goalie not receive credit for a shootout win when more often than not, the goalie is entirely responsible for that W? For a perfect example, check out the game last Saturday where Brodeur stopped Nylander, Semin and Ovechkin in a row and won the shootout 1-0... you're telling me that isn't a legit win?

Of course any win is a legitimate win. The point is: goalies of previous eras were not given the opportunity to get the win (either in OT or in the shootout). That is the only difference. Regardless, Brodeur will earn enough victories (in regulation) before he is done to make it all a moot point.

Then the arguments will return to: who played for what teams and under what systems? In the end, it is too subjective to define a clear ALL-TIME BEST!

Does he still get the win? He was on the ice when the GWG was scored.

Yes he got the win last night... no game today so hopefully no more Devils will go down, they're dropping like flies.

Next Parise is going to get hurt playing guitar hero or something, and Elias will separate his shoulder playing nintendo wii.

Don't even think such things!

Brodeur comes right back with a shutout win! Anyone thinks he can break the record this season? I Think it's possible.

No joke, I read your post, then saw the one above it (from November) and borderline freaked out... then I looked at the date. WHEW!

Marty has played what, 11 games? 3 shutouts?

Nothing is impossible, but it isn't very likely he posts 5 shutouts in the last 21 games and breaks it...

That wins record though... :D

I'm with ya! It's not impossible...just going to be tough with so many team still in the race.
