Wondering if the Oilers get a couple years cheap on the back end out of this contract.
If McDavid is a 13.25 Million dollar hit (And let's assume Draisatl is... 7 million) those two plus RNH and Lucic would be a hit of over 32 million. That's nuts. And there's always the chance Puljujarvi comes in on the last year of his ELC and puts up 60 points.
McDavid is going nowhere (and is probably worth the money provided he does not get hurt) but the Oilers are going to be in a similar position as the Blackhawks are now with the cap unless they cut bait fast on a couple more bigger contracts. McDavid might be printing money for the Oilers, but there's going to be a lot of turnaround in Edmonton with some of those big contracts in the cap era. Your top 6 skaters cannot play 60 minutes a night.
