I'm really ticked there's no Smyth Team Canada figure.
Really ticked, they've already made brodeur, sakic, lemieux, lecavalier is not deserving of the slot, Ryan has been on the last four adult mens world championship teams, he Captained 2 of them, to not include him and put Vincent and Jarome in is a HUGE slap.

also,
for those about to ask.
There's no pictures yet, just line annoucements,
and there's no team/jersey specification on the Gretzky's.

I know you are a big Smyth fan, so this may sound bad to you, but most people don't care about having a Ryan Smyth figure. Most of those names are extremely popular and would sell well anywhere in North America, but interest in Smyth would probably be mostly regional, which would explain the player selection.

Wow, I can't believe how many Gretzky figurines he's making. I'd love to see a Paul Henderson Team Canada figurine. Same with Larry Murphy and Dale Hawerchuk.

I don't think that putting Jarome in the set is a slap in the face to Smyth. Jarome played really well at the Olympics in 2002 and the World Cup last year.

US has had numerous exclusives.
And the Canada only exclusive sets were retailer request sets for something in the summer months.
They're sold via spawn store for the US, but, the sales of hockey in general doesn't give enough incentive to increase production and put them out in the states.
Gives TMP a chance to make Canadian team players and not catch endless flack from US fans....well, they still do, but probably not as much.

I Imagine it will be a Canada exclusive set and up for grabs for the US in the spawn store online.

I understand the decision not to put smyth in, but honestly, people are going to buy these regardless of who it is.
And Lecavalier has played one tournament of late for Canada...I dunno about that call.
I know a lot of people really respect Smyth's dedication to the national team.

But whichever, hopefully it sells well and there's a series 2, and Smyth gets made.

Lecavalier is not deserving? He won MVP in the world cup.

That's fine.
Smyth has been in 4 tournaments and led 2 of the teams and he doesn't get a sniff?

haha I know.
I've been pushing for this figure for about 4 months.
****s seeing it half happen.

One town, not a market make. ;)

BTW! There are none to be had in Edmonton as well! That makes Two! :D

Thanks for the info!

As for the Tony 'O' this could be an interesting piece depending upon the pose!

Yeah, I saw the Smyth absence too. Kinda weird in my opinion...but I got my Iggy, and my 87 Canada cup figs... dunno about Vinnie though. They have some major facial reconstruction to perform on that fig. I would have liked a Smyth though.

Did you also notice series 10 is scheduled for release in Nov 2005 (pushed back almost a year) and series 11 is April 2005. I thinks there is some confusion at McFarlene these days.

John

Series 11 is a Canadian exclusive line, so the lockout shouldn't affect it's sales. As for series 10, we may not like it, but with the current state of the NHL, McFarlane would be fools if they had released it this year as was planned.

I'm starting to be a little unsure about the Legends line. I think McFarlane spent too much on the Gretzky lisence and the rest of the line is suffering because of it. Who would have put Pete Mahovlich or Cournour(sp?) in their top 50 list? At this rate I wouldn't be surprised to see Brent Ashton and Wayne Cashman in series 4. I also hope they don't put Dionne in a Detroit uniform to pander to the Wings fans, he should be in the purple and gold.
