I'd say McGrady has played better defense on Nowitzki better then Bowen. From what I've seen of him this year (only about 7 games granted), I don't know how the guy is in the NBA. He can't shoot outside, yet isn't a presence inside. And his defense is decent, but he's not quick. And he frustrated the hell out of me when he kept letting Sura and Wesley get trapped at half-court by Terry and Van Horn, and not popping out for a pass to get it over, until his last possesion, when he was promptly subbed out for Padgett.

Darrell Armstrong was his best teammate, formidable back then, but by no means a good #2 option, and now is third in the depth chart @ PG for the Mavs (did he even make the playoff roster?). And I think they had Drew Gooden, in his 2nd year after a trade from the Grizz, who was much more of a work in progress then he is now. -But did have a decent series if memory doesn't fail me. But McGrady has never had a solid group of teammates around him, never a solid 2nd option (outside of the Raptors days), and no threat on the inside at PF or Center.

I had read the posts above me, and I did incorporate them into my first response. I also decided to add a new bit of wisdom into the end of it.


Regardless of McGrady's supporting casts, I still need to see him get past at least the first round for him to be continually mentioned among the elites of the league.

That's true, and winning is a big factor in your overall perception in regards to the success in your career. But you also can't hold not winning a championship against someone who is clearly an amazing player. Can you discredit what Karl Malone did for the Power Forward position in the past 20 years, simply because he didn't win a championship (Not at all saying McGrady stacks up to Malone), but as far individual abilities, his jumper, how he creates oppurtunities for his teammates, hitting clutch shots, be it at the end of the game, or to answer a 10-0 run from the opposing team, play solid defense against 3 sometimes 4 different positions. He is an amazingly gifted player, and as far as individual ability (not success) he is definitely top 6 or 7. And this is his first chance to be on a team where he can actually succeed, where he isn't the first, 2nd, 3rd and last option.

True. He sometimes looks totally lost on the German national team which well.. doesn't really have many good players.

Look at you getting all gitty. Don't get frustrated because I have more validity to my arguments then you. And it's not like I got banned for ripping anyone off, I said a bad sentence in my profile. I was banned, came back, I have never done any harm to the site, and I like to debate basketball topics. If there is an actual worthy reason for me to be banned, then let me know and I will accept it. But as far as I can see, I have done nothing wrong, and haven't been detrimental to the site.

I don't think he should be banned again because he didn't rip anyone off..I was just telling Olajuwon he has over 500 posts on this site under another name. Actually I thought dariusmiles had just left beofre and didn't know he was banned,
 
Mcgrady got it done again tonite to extend the series will be pulling for a game 7 win.
