I think it's attrocious how the "news" media just can't leave some of these folks alone. Michael Phelps, who ruled the olympics in Beijing, and in so doing, sold an awful lot of newspapers, gets caught "possibly" smoking some pot.

Report in Globe and Mail

Note that it supposedly happened after the olympics, so this shouldn't impact his medal status, but could prove a hinderance to future income from sponsors.

Let him do what he wants. This happens everyday but since it's a big name person it's get frount page news. Just leave him a lone

If he loses his sponsorships if serves him right, if he doesn't whatever. When you're in the spotlight you think you'd be a little smarter about where you do what you do. Clearly he's not that smart, to allow himself to have his photo taken smoking weed... was Rickey Williams there?

I know drugs are drugs, but it still tarnished his reputation. But it could have been worse drug.

Yes, he smoked marijuana -- and look how it ravaged his body and his ability to focus.

People who treat pot the same way they treat cocaine and crack are straight-up idiots.

The plant should be legalize.Alcool was prohibitted before and its more dammagable.

People on CKAC and LCN where talking about similar picture whit party boy Carey Price circulating on the web, but i cant find them.

he got weed, he got weed!!!!!!!! LOL

I personally think he shoudl feel the wrath. he has to rememebr, he makes his living because hes a public icon, so he must also take the steps to preserve hsi image. i woudl want 12-14 year old kids seeing it and saying to there frinds, "Hey that olympic dude did it, why cant we??" It would be the same as if he was photgraphed chugging a 40 or sopmething just as stupid. Not a criminal issue per se, but he should suffer the consequences for s stupid decision.

No big deal...he's not a god and he's not immortal. If he wants to bun, let him bun. He came out afterwards and said all of the right things. A "don't smoke weed" tour will take care of all that ails his sponsorships.

When he starts firing up crack with cross dressing masseuses in cheap motels, then there's a problem.

I really could care less what athletes or stars do on their own time. As long as he isn't sparking up on TV next to the pool then I could care less. They are real people who are living their own lives. Its really sad that the media jumps all over these type of things. I guess what is worst is that people buy this garbage to read.

It is only tarnishing his image because the media makes such a big deal over it. This was done at a private party, its sad that every second of their lives are made public. I am really glad that everything the old players did wasn't made public. Just imagen if everything the old Habs, Bruins and Flyers did was made public....not to mention the old La Lakers GEZZZ.

Here was an opportunity for this guy, who is truly a made man (one of the greatest athletes in civilized history), to stand up against the ignorance and foolishness of a social norm that has negatively affected the lives of the millions of citizens in this country's history through immoral and unconstitutional laws.

He missed a golden opportunity to speak up for liberty and help the movements that strive to restore our liberty. Shame on him, just another puppet for the show.

His 15 minutes are over... go hit the bong if you want, just stay off my television.

He's probably getting offers from the DEA to be their doll for their new D.A.R.E sports figures.

First Edition Set:
1. Michael Phelps drowning weed in pool water
