Hi guys,
I've been absent here for the better part of the last month so I wanted to come by and say hello again. On March 11th, my wife went in for her 36 week ultrasound, and was told at that point she was 2 cm dilated and could be candidate for early delivery :whatthehell:
She started panicking a bit (she still had a week and a half of work left because our original due date was April 4th) but you know me...I was pretty chill and assuming they were feeding her BS lines so I told her to calm down and finished securing shelves to walls and things to appease her
Then on Thursday morning (March 13th) she wakes me up at 5 AM and says she's in labor :duh:
13 hours later, I was a dad for the first time, but the last few weeks have been a bit crazy. I'll spare the gory details, but my wife ended up in the operating room after the birth, and her hemoglobin levels hit rock bottom to the point where she couldn't even lift our child for the first 48 hours, and I needed to be home to look after them both for a few weeks.
She still isn't 100% but getting stronger each day. You can see the color returning to her face and such. Her mom is here from Australia visiting for the next couple weeks, so I think that's lifted her spirits a bit too
But in the meantime, I'd like to introduce you all to my daughter and firstborn. Charlotte Delys Paligaru was born on March 13th at 6:41 PM at a healthy 8 lbs 8 oz.
Here she is forcibly wearing one of the gifts she was brought from Australia
No special significance to her first name outside of the fact that I've always really liked the name. Her middle name is Laura's mother and grandmother's name. Since we're both only children, we thought this was a nice way for her family name to live on somehow.
Oddly enough, we've got reason to believe now that the dating ultrasound was wrong, and Charlotte came a week LATE as opposed to 3 weeks early. There have been a few medical telltale signs to suggest this, and Laura's family doc (and both her parents who are doctors too) seem to think this was also the case.
Anyhoo...now you know what I've been up to!
