Ok, ok, now I know your thinking, why is he talking about Canada Post?? Well, I did something today that I have never done in the past.

I drove into Fort Erie, Ontario and mailed out Canada bound packages!

Now my excursion starts by getting my car inspected by customs looking to contraband! So I'm held up for 20 minutes, then I get to the post office on Jarvis St. and to my surprise, no one is in line. Thats the good part

The next part opened my eyes. The reason I drove up was one of the packages needed to be tracked. Well, the last time I did that, it ended costing that person some money because of the lovely GST. So, I expected that the package would be around 10-12 to ship and it was. Cool, so far, so good.

I had 5 other packages that just needed a 1.15 stamp, so far, so good.

It's the last package that killed me! All I will say is that for an extra .45 cents, it was sent ExpressPost because the costs on shipping a package that normally would be about $3 in Buffalo was $10+!!!!

YIKES!!! And to top it off, there's a fuel surcharge? WOW!! Remind me of this post when I have a gripe with the USPS!

In the end, for those that are expecting stuff from me, it's on the way.

And I probably will not do this again!

Scott

ps: yes, I had to get a Double-Double on the Canadian side... Make me want to get another now at one of the 14 that surround my house in Buffalo now.

Fuel surcharge??? Ha ha! I can't believe you fell for that one. Oh those Canada Post employees can spot the yankees from a mile away. You didn't pay with US currency I hope. ;)

Seriously tho', I've used a number of Canada Post outlets in my day and maybe have found one or two that actually know what they are doing. I would have questioned the $10 shipping charge.

American Express... so I'll be paying converted currency, plus this and that and that other things...

ack!

he he he....I got news for ya....even if the package does get lost, you're screwed....lol. Canada post does not insure hockey cards, even if they charge you for it. The tracking # is vitually useless, but it does make people feel better at times.

You know what the best part is...those packages would probably have gotten to the person quicker if you shipped from the States! Shipping within the country seems to be a lot slower lol

Xpresspost Regional or National?
National is a lot costlier than Regional:|
Try cashing one of their Canada Post U$ money orders:mad:

Not entirely true, I've had two packages go missing and have been reimbursed for both of them - both issues were in the last month.

Provided them with the link to the completed eBay auction, and a PayPal screenshot with the receiver's address and the got my cheque within 3 business days.

really, maybe being here in guelph I'm lucky but stuff usually gets out to people pretty quickly.
The one mistake I did make to the guy at canada post is I once said there was plastic in the bubble mailer. I was then charged my right nut to ship out something that would've cost me maybe $1.66

Just wait till the prices jump even higher next year, haven't heard yet about expresspost, but bubble mailers will be doubling in price to ship
