Ok, here we go.

I finally picked up this card. I didn't see any bad feeback about this seller in his feedback ratings, and his star levels area ll high 4's.

I received it today, and I'm not thrilled. first off I was shocked that I paid 3.50 USD for a white envelope that cost $0.90 to ship. that's all fine and dandy, as long as the card isn't damaged right? well as I was putting the card into my binder, I decided to take a peek at the back of the card to see what kind of condition the corners were in. I was a little choked to see a crease in the back of the card.

Unfortunately you can just barely see the crease on the back of the card in the center at the top in the scan, but in person it's clear as day.

Here's the e-mail I sent to him:

Hi there,

I just received the Bobby clarke Classic signature and before I leave feedback I wanted to let you know that the card is damaged. it's got a crease on the center of the back of the card. I think it may have been due to lack of protection during shipping. normally when I pay 3.50 for shipping I expect the card to come in a bubble mailer with a couple decoy cards on either side of the card to keep it sturdy.

please let me know how you'd like to handle this as the auction mentioned nothing about damage to the card.

Thanks,
Nick

Hopefully we'll be able to sort something out. I think at this point I'd like to return this card for a re-fund.

I'll let you know how things get ironed out :)

Have a great all star weekend everyone!
Nick

More people are shipping in PWE's because ebay and paypal fees are outrageous. So they are making money off shipping to help get back some of their fees.

I make it a point to say in my auctions how I ship. I wish more people would do that. Or have ebay make it a policy when an item is listed, on how it will be shipped. They have a thing set up for shipping charges, why not add shipping materials or something like that.

I like the way you think. I still haven't heard back from the guy. As Jacktheripper mentioned, I can leave negative feedback for the guy, but I'd rather sort the whole thing out before jumping to that.

I would file an item not received as described complaint with paypal and see how he responds to that. At this point I'd say the seller doesn't deserve better than a neutral depending on how the seller resolves this.

thanks for the advice, I didn't realize you could claim for item not as described.

I feel like I should be sending him a reminder e-mail with some type of warning like:

Hi there,

please let me know if you've received the last message that I sent you, if I do not hear back from you in the next 3 days I will be filing a item not as described claim with paypal.

thanks for your time,
Nick

just a quick update, the seller has said he'd refund the shipping and cost of the card as soon as I send it back to him... it's been 3 days since I replied asking him to confirm his shipping address and no response. hopefully he'll get back to me soon. I also think I'm going to send the cards back using express post, unless someone can suggest a cheaper way to send a tracked package to the US from Canada.

thanks for the read!
Nick

Maybe you could send the card via standard post to someone you trust in the US, and then have them send it with tracking. I'm sure you'd save a few bucks...although I don't know if that would be within ebay's rules.
