Someone suggested it might be a good idea to post how things went, so here it is.
First, I want to say I had a great time. I didn't sell a lot - in fact, the traffic at the mall was VERY slow. I did, however, meet a bunch of great collectors and made a few trades. I sold off most of my $10-$12 jerseys for $5 a piece, so I was able to pay for my table and buy a box of Sweet Shot Basketball with the leftover (the box wasn't great, but it was all he had for wax).
I did play pack-poker, and lost every round... there were 6-8 people per 'hand', so $30 got me in on 2 full boxes. It was fun, but I would have been better off picking out a $30 card I liked.
The best part is that I only sold two guys from my 500 goal scorer/300 game winner quest, so I've got to pick them up somewhere along the way (Brett Hull & Tony Esposito).
Here's the loot:
Never seen these Studio press proofs before (and I've bought a pile of the stuff). Cost me a buck a piece.
I think this one is sweet swatch worthy...
Not hockey, but I picked up the set for $10...
Still didn't own one of these ($1 again)...
A sweet 3-colour jersey from one of my favorite teams back-in-the-day...
Numbered 1/35... first 1/ anything... most don't care - I do.
For my 500 goal scorer auto quest...
AND FINALLY...
The two best aquisitions of the weekend...
For my 300 game winner auto quest (deceased)...
And from one of my new friends - a young man with special needs who brought me it to me as a gift because I had mentioned I used to watch wrestling...
It was the ultimate display of what this hobby SHOULD be about.
All in all, it was a great time, and though I didn't walk away rich, I met some great people who share the same passion as I do (which is contrary to my experiences at larger, busier shows).
Thanks for taking the opportunity to check out my post.
