Hello everyone. It's been a few weeks since I Stopped by the forums. I found myself browsing the Show & Tell section tonight and decided to share my collection with you all.
I collect Patrick Roy. I have since I was a boy. He was the reason I became a goalie in the first place. That was when I was 8 years old. I'm 36 now and have been collecting ever since. I really ramped up my collection about 2 years ago, picking up some patches, autos, etc here and there. But it's in the last 6 months that my PC absolutely exploded. Hope you guys enjoy it!
A few of the highlights:
- 1986-87 O Pee Chee rookie card. This is the one that started it all. Spent $100 to get it when I was 12 years old. It's been in my possession ever since.
- 2017-18 The Cup Rookie Tribute /10. I bought this immediately after selling my McDavid. I was looking at this card for a while and decided to treat myself after the big sale. It was my most expensive card... For a little while.
- 2014-15 Premier Mega Patch 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4. These are by far the most expensive cards in my collection, and rightfully so. They are each a 1 of 1 (there is only one of each piece) and they in turn make up one larger 1 of 1. Not to mention these patches are from a game used jersey. I still can't believe I even own these. They truly are incredible. The absolute pinnacle of my collection.
- 2014-15 Premier Legendary Signatures 1 of 1. Needless to say, I own the two biggest Roy cards from that set with the 1/1 patches and this 1/1. It seemed appropriate to buy myself a true Roy 1 of 1 after selling my McDavid, so when this popped up, I had to have it.
- 2005-06 The Cup Limited Logos /21. I didn't think much of this card when I got it, other than it was a nice patch auto. But it turns out this card is highly sought after and extremely rare, given it's age. Being from the first year of The Cup, I consider this one of my most prized cards.
- 2018-19 The Cup Pro Gear booklet /12. When I got into this seriously about a year ago, I didn't even know that booklet cards existed. I thought they were incredibly unique and decided that I needed to get one in a Habs uni and on in an Avs uni, and I did just that.
- 2015-16 The Cup Pro Gear booklet /12. See above. Love my booklets!
- 2008-09 The Cup Limited Logos /50. The card itself isn't that special as it is /50, but the five-colour patch is quite unique. In all my time searching for Roy cards (for reference, it has been many, many hours), I have never once come across a five-colour patch. Needless to say, as soon as I saw this card, I immediately bought it.
I have had a ton of fun putting together this collection over the last year or so. I really started collect Roy cards when I was a boy. I used to take my allowance each week and visit the local card vendor to buy as many Roy cards as I could. Then I turned 12 and managed to convince my parents to let me spend $100 on a Patrick Roy rookie card. They told me I was crazy... Maybe they were right!

Anyway, here are my display cards, along with my Roy base cards from The Cup (I have them all, from 2005-06 to 2018-19, as well as the replica stick I purchased directly from the Bell Centre when I went there for a game in November.
Hope you all enjoy my collection. I sure have enjoyed putting it together, and I look forward to adding to it in the future!
